I guess the money I've spent in buying every Half-Life (the original game, GOTY edition, Opposing Force, Gunman Chronicles, Blue Shift and one of those Half-Life Generation packs) is being well managed by Valve. :D

I only hope that my 'slow' XP 1900+ can cope with this game :D

Back to the game, I hope all the added effects don't equate to horrible netplay. Hopefully this game proves to be even half as much fun to play multiplayer as the original series with all of its mods happened to be.

Never give up! Never surrender! .....oh...heh.

It wil come, I have forseen it......well it betta d@mn welcome. I'm not giving up hope.

Where's my bwanky?

Looks good! I like the dynamic physics model, being able to interact totally with the environment.

If they make a Counter-Strike mod for it, then hopefully they can include the dynamics of shooting pipes and barrels to stop/divert the other team. Also, hopefully when it comes to multiplayer, they will have sorted out the cheating issues!

I can't wait to play this :)

Yea, a dynamic environment would be great. HL1's levels were pretty static (aside from the scripting), so being able to shoot up/dent/move pipes and boxes is pretty fresh.

Yeah I'm looking all over for my copy now, found the case and cd key, disc is still missing.

I'd agree that the new Half-Life looks great, and may very well reporduce the success and acclaim of the first, although if this only turns out to be the second best game ever than a lot of people may still complain that it's not as good as the original. I would be pretty surprised if Valve turned out an engine better than Carmack's though. Quake was the most technically advanced engine ever designed when it was released. So were the Quake 2 and 3 engines when they came out. Id's engines are consistently the most advanced, scalable, and just plain clean feeling compared to Unreal or Lithtech or anything else's. It's not impossible, but I would be pretty surprised if Valve dethroned Id with their very first in house engine, it just doesn't seem likely. Art direction is another story completely, Valve is more than accomplished at this and Half-Life 2 should look great. Half-Life was based on a dated engine even when it was released, but it still looks good because of how well the game was designed.
