*UPDATE* Which is the most quiet video card cooler?

ndee

Lifer
OK, I wanna replace my 4x80mm fans I have in my Lian Li PC 60 case, with something quieter. For my CPU, I already have a Papst 8412 NGL, which is 12db and very very silent, I can't hear it over the others. Is there a more quiet 80mm fan out there, than the Papst 8412NGL? Are Papst still the kings of silent fans?

Thanks in advance.

*UPDATE*

After I installed the 8412 N/2GLE(which I cannot hear), my quest for the ultimate quiet computer continues. Now, I'm looking for a silent video card cooler, anyone wanna recommend one? I have a Gigabyte 6600GT.

it is of my opinion that pabst has quality control issues. Some are quiet, others have clicking issues.

The quietest combination I have found is Panaflo L1A from japan with 5V from a fan controller. Unfortunately, 80mm fans rarely push much air at 5V.

well, just ordered 4x 8412, the 12dBA Papst fans. We'll see, if they start to click or act funky, I just return them as long as they are perfect 🙂

A guy with the user name Zepper reccomended that i look into using Delta Triple Bladed fans.

Man!! Am I ever glad he did. VIA PM I thanked him.

Using a Sunbeam Rheobus at the bench, I tested Delta Triples 92x38/92x25 against Panaflo 92x25 Ms and Sanyo Denki 92x32. The Delta Triples win hands down for undervolting quiet goodness. They will start and run silently @ 3.7V. The three bladed fans at full output have a pleasent deep sound. Like a very distant HD truck pulling a grade. The DTB 92x38 is rated at 57cfm and is for the XP-90 on an Intel CPU.

In 80x25mm i would seek out and buy them ndee. They will undervolt if not the same, better than the 92s..These DTBs are the cheese. The Panaflos are the holes 😀Delta 80x25mm...For international shipping check out epowerhousepc.com/ The Deltas are BB fans and have no bushing clicking or rumble at low volts.

All the above fans were run overnight at full song, then tested in the morning.

Hey! What happened to your post here yesterday on the very same subject? MMmmm?
Don't let OT leak in over here...😉

Hey Yankee,
thanks for your information 🙂 Unfortunately, I already ordered the other fans, oh well.

Weeeeeeeell.... I thought it just isn't the same subject so I started a new thread 😀

Panaflo L1As are great (at 5v), as are these NMBs; top speed of 1200RPM, and only $3.95 are big pluses, the only down side is they don't start at 5v.

the nexus 80mm fan by far. i think it has trouble starting a 7v or someth ing (higher than 5v but still a tiny bit quieter than the panaflo).

Swapped all four ADDA fans with Panaflo L1A and I couldn't be happier.
IMO, Lian-Li should stop using ADDA!

I'm glad I read this...I just ordered 4 of the Panaflo's for my Lian Li PC-60 case as well (the stock ones were loud as hell and didn't do a greate cooling job). I was worried that maybe I didn't order the right ones but I feel better now. I have a 120mm panaflo M1A on my Si-120 and you can barely hear it.

Comperable Panaflo to Delta Triple Blade.

The Delta's rule! I have bench tested both. No contest.

I will gladly pay $4 each more for the better fan.

You'll see...Time will tell 😀

Don't get me wrong, I have 80mm Panaflo L1A running at 5.5/7V
at 12V, it's tad a bit too loud for my taste (but still way quieter than original Lian-Li fans)
I also remove the groove on the rear blowhole. That helped a lot.

Nexus fans are the quietest at all levels.

At 80mm the Panaflo L1A/12L is one of the best fans out there, excellent dba/cfm ratio.

Either way undervolt them to ~7V or so, and you will barely hear them, especially the Nexus.

Panaflo L1A/12L fans are loud compared to other fans on the market.

I know the Coolermaster are cheap even though they may not be the most silent. You can use a Zalman fan controller for "teh silence". Hehehehe.

Are you saying they are comparable or asking me to compare?

He is saying they are comparable.

Ive had a nice chat with GY about the DTB's Vs. Panaflo L1A's.

Just got the Papst 8412 N/2GLE. Can't hear them. The only thing I hear is the harddisk and the video card fan. I'm happy 😀

Now, I'm looking for a quiet video card cooler, anyone can recommend one?

Zalman VF-700. Excellent cooling performance even when running @7V with no noticeable noise. @12V it blows a lot, though...but this is IMHO not needed 😉
Kept my 6600GT under 70C load even when I ran a voltage mod to 1.7V (from 1.3 default) on it for *umm* testing purposes... 😀

Tell that to the folks over at SPCR. Additionally, can you name a fan more quiet than an undervolted Nexus or Panaflo...I thought not.
