Ah, they changed it. I now see 1000 minutes and not nites weekends. Well if they don't supply what I signed up for, they will be gettting the phone back and I will demand a full refund.

There is no logical way that buy.com can honer the deal that they had up. Since ATT is the actual service provider and since they dont have this plan...I dont see anyway that the intial deal is gonna come through...

I just called the buy.com wireless number 877-947-3537 and the rep basically said they have been going back and forth with at&t about this issue all day and that as it stands right now the 1000 minute with no n/w plan is what we get even if we ordered it with the 1200 minute plan. This is all tentative though as he said that he does not have the official notice as to what it really is. So we may get the 1200 minute. but I personalty doubt it. I did get him to commit to buy.com paying for the returned phone if they don't sort this out to my liking before the 30 day trial period. So I guess there is nothing to loose.

Silly, here is the quote from agreement,
"Due to the subsidized phone price, if you cancel your service plan within 180 days from your activation (unless you return your phone within 30 days per our return policy), we will charge you the difference between your phone purchase price and the list price at the time of purchase."

You will pay list price, silly.

having the GSM(sim card) phone you can always switch phones(if you have or buy another GSM phone). most GSM phones can be unlocked to work with any GSM cellular network. i love having able to use 2 different phones(Motorola 720i & the Nokia 8390). i have been with Cingular(GSM network) and there coverage is great!!!!

Man, hey guys I have a question. I want to buy a phone to bring to the Carribean, and Circuit City is charging me an extra 200 dollars to not have an activation in store. Can I technically buy this phone from buy.com for free, and then get it with activation, and then cancel the plan with att within a few days, and just not return the phone to buy.com???

I dont care about the activation fee.....wonder if they will let me do that

I need a phone when I go back home in a week or two!

you can but there is an early termination fee if you are going to do that.

*NOTE: Service Plan activation required to receive phone at listed price. Due to the subsidized phone price, if you cancel your service plan within 180 days from your activation (unless you return your phone within 30 days per our return policy), we will charge you the difference between your phone purchase price and the list price at the time of purchase. Activation fees to be charged by carriers if applicable. Click here for service provider cancellation policies.

that's from buy.com

I went to my local ATT store, showed them the online instant rebate ($100) I got from a link in here at an ATT site. Got them to honor it, got 2 phones for Taxes only ($15.50) and signed up a cheap corporate account. Found the Mail in Rebate, will try to get $200 sent to me. :D

Trying to learn the darn thing...lot more then my 4 year old Nokia 5000 series...

JETninja:

What did you show them to make em give u the instant rebate?
buy.com site??

I talked to a couple of Local AT&T stores but they refuse to PM any other store ...

When I ask why ..... they brag about the fantastic service you get if you buy equipment & service from AT&T's own store.

In fact this is true to some extent as in case your phone malfunctions they replace it immediately and you don't have to mail it and sit without a phone ... happened to me 3 mths ago ...

Last Friday I followed this link: http://www.attws.com/specials/pz_ER2222_rebate.jhtml and created a plan using the 8390 which they applied a $100 instant rebate. So the cost was $0.00

I printed the whole thing out because I wanted to get my corporate rate (which any official AT&T store can do). The guy behind the counter did it no problem. 2 Phones, $15.50 in Taxes was all I paid. I then printed out the $100 MIR (1 for each) and sent those in yesterday. Fingers crossed! Nothing in the small print leads me to believe they wont honor it.

Love the phone too....I get 5 bars of signal in places that my 3 yr old Nokia 5100 series TDMA phone was lucky to get 1! (and was unusable) Don't even notice it in my Pocket. Ordered a bunch of accesories from these guys (best prices I found, including shipping) www.cellularfactory.com/get_accessories.jsp?phone_id=53&phone_model_id=323

My local ATT store would only give me either 100 mir and 100$ phone, or 100IR and 100$ phone with no 100MIR if I said I worked for the goverment :(.

Woohooo..!!!

Got my phone in on the 21nd...initiated a migration of my digital service to GSM the same evening...But the service was up only this morning...so yes, its been a wait on the migration.

Im sending in my MIR for the $100.00 ... keeping my fingers crossed...however on the MIR I dont see any mention on "NEW" activation...but just activation on the ATT network..

Hopefully there shouldnt be any glitches..
