UPDATE: totally screwed on hardware upgrade PO... can't even get the *re-ordered* ram to work... any ideas?

Edit: I've got fantastic news... It didn't work

512 chips in 64M x 64 -bit dont work... now the 32M x 64 -Bit chips I ordered under a combination of advisment from here and my own research also didn't work... I understand that I need a pair of chips with 128 on each side, but what on earth is the "configuration" designation for that????

I need to make an order for either 8, 256 pc133 chips, or 4, 512 pc133 chips and they have to be low density... but I'm at a total loss sifting through them... anyone want to lend a hand?

They won't let me go to lunch until I make the order and it has to be from newegg 🙁

edit: srry, didnt mean unbuffered... low density... my mistake... trying to multitask to heavily here...

funnny... that simpletech is the same stuff we just bought 6 sticks of and the 4 we put in i810 boards DIDNT WORK

the 4, all unopened, are on their way back for refund RMA and that's why I'm shopping at newegg in the first place- to avoid the restocking fee....

thanks again for the help... ive been looking for half an hour and im still not sure if they even do stock low density ram....

just go to crucial.com and use the memory selector.

Gambling to save $10 by buying random sticks off eBay or in Hot Deals often ends up wasting time, effort, and money compared to just buying it righr the first time.

Judging by the fact that crucial's memory selector quotes...
SDRAM, PC100 ? CL=2 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 8ns ? 3.3V ? 32Meg x 64,

I think that I should be safe with most of them... tossing the "SimpleTech 168 Pin 256MB SDRAM PC-133 - OEM, 32M x 64 -Bit" in the cart now...

would if I could, but have to go with newegg or I bite the 70$ something restocking fee... I've never ever ever had a problem ordering any kind of ram before... Always thought if you matched up the type, SD/DDR and overcompensated for everything (latency and clock overhead) that you'd never have a problem... Boy was I wrong this time...
 
i don't think they make any low-density 512mb. You'll have to go with the double-sided 256mb sticks.

In this situation ordering directly from crucial would work out for you. They wont charge restaking if the ram doesnt work 🙂
