Its been running fine ever scince I have had it almsot 5 months now both monitor I have hooked up say check PC settings. I reset the cmos and it started to work now it came again. I dont know What to do. I think my Graphics card went bad. All rails have been fine this is the fisrt time its happening. the computer it self is booting up but I dont know for sure, But when I push the power putton is instantly shuts off I dont need to hold it down I just push and thats it. So any suggestions.

CPU 4200 x2
Video XFX 6800GT
Ram PQI DDR 400(Passes Memory test)

No overclocking is done every thing is stock

Rember this problme occers only When I hit shut down and try to turn it on again. I have to hit the switch on my psu and wait 5 min then hit the switch on and then It works again

I don't know how but it fixed it self up i bought anti static bags and were waiting for them to come so I can put my mobo,GPU ,Hd, ect in the bags and I tried to see if the problem was there right before I was going to take my dear computer apart and it the problem was gone very weired any hoo i got 2 years parts labor and 3 years I think just parts
 
Go get an old stick of crappy ram. Go get an old (pci preferably) video card. Unplug all cd drives and floppy. Take out all pci cards (except video cad) try again. If that doesnt work, try another power supply. Still no luck.. its probably mobo or cpu
 
I dont have any extra anything. but It just happened to me just now. I turned of the switch from the PSU for 5 min and turned it back on it worked. If it turn it off complaetly then i wont turn on until I let it sitt with no power for 5 min. I will try a bios update and then I will see
 
Ok, I updated the bios no change still not working. When I restart the comp it doesnet have a problem jsut shuting it off. I dont understand this problem and I have never read it in any other fourm here guess it a wired problem
 
It seems that your power supply maybe suspect. Can you use another PSU?

When I have a problem on a client's computer, similar to yours, I immediately switch PSU's and go from there.

If you don't have one, borrow a friend's or if you're friendly with a computer shop, use your contact to diagnois your problem.
My suggestion is to develop a rapport with a local shop, do some free work, and workup a relationship.
It will certainly be beneficial in the future. You can always pay someone else, or by watching and doing, you'll learn.
 
I my moms computer I just got here an new PSU scince the other make some hissing noise so I will test it wiht hers and see. its a Forton PSU 400watt hopefully it will power up my comp it should.
 
Ok the I put in the new PSU and reseated the video card and still no dice. I will get a pci video card tomarrow. I have a feeling its the mobo.
