Fiancee is currently having surgery and i'm typing on my laptop waiting for her to get out. Currently in pre-op, or at least thats what the plasma TV says...

so, what you doin?

UPDATE: Fiancee made it out of surgery a-ok. However, they did not find any cartilage(well, they found some, but not enough to do a transplant like originally planned), and thus are proceeding to talk about partial knee replacement surgery. We talk with the doctor next week about options. Thanks for all of the support and best wishes guys, much appreciated :)

This, 8th surgery, is to poke around and see if she has any cartilage left, and if so, then they are going to take some of her cartilage and grow her some, and replace the little she has left in 3-4 months. That will be her 9th surgery. If no cartilage is left, then they will remove the knee cap in a few years. Note: She is 23 years old.

At the age of 15, she was riding on a ATV with an inexperienced driver. The driver was trying to be 'daring' and brushes near the tree with his ATV, not realizing that my fianee's knee was hanging out. It hits the tree with full force, takes the knee cap and dislodges it, turning it 180 degrees. Driver then flips out, looks around to his left side to see what is going on, simultaneously turning the ATV to the left and hitting yet ANOTHER tree. This tree then does the same thing to the left knee that happened to the right. 5 knee surgeries on the right knee, 2 on the left. Will have to have a whole knee replacement at some point (trying to delay this as long as possible)

Knee replacement FTW! It was the best thing I ever did to eliminate the pain from damaged Kneecap and ligaments.

Nice I had my ACL replaced last Thursday. I'm laying in bed with a huge brace and knee the size of a basketball, a bottle of percs and thinking about the crappy summer i'm about to have.

rehab time for ACLs is really fast now, you have 2 months before summer you should be well on your feet by then with a big ugly brace but it wont stop you from doing much

Thank goodness for internet in hospital waiting rooms! When I was sitting last fall waiting 4 different times for husband's procedures, it certainly helped to pass the time, although twice the tv indicated he was in pre-op at the same time they were calling me to say the procedure was finished and the doc was on his way to talk to me.

Here's hoping the surgery goes well and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Wow...that's crazy. Bad/inexperienced drivers FTL.

Hope she gets through the surgery with no complications and that she is back on her feet soon!
