My sister, with my help, picked up a certified pre-owned 2010 Mercedes E350.

Fin.

This is where your sister could have lost out. The Lexus will hold its value and be much more reliable inthe long run than the Mercedes.

after the way you approached the insurance claim, not so sure how much "help" you would be in negotiations.... Thinking an irrational person that jumps to conclusions before giving the situation a chance to work itself out isn't the person I would personally want to "help" me make a big ticket purchase.

Dont discount the fact that this was a woman making the decision. Even though she probably liked the Lex changing to a merc would be like changing to a different pair of shoes. Most wemon like to change their look very often. I mean that respectfully of course 😛

Bingo. It was my sister. She viewed the IS350 as too sporty. Not professional. I suggested the ES350, she suggested the E350. It's her money, so she won.

That's the biggest win right there. Had you gotten the ES and it turned out sour, it would be "I told u so " all day long. I just help people get the best deal they can on the car they WANT now. Everyone is happy at the end.

We need pictures of her in/standing next to car. DO IT NOW!

things don't any up here...esp. the helping his sister find the car part. Sounded like she made that choice herself.

HA! Yea. After reviewing the situation, I was useless:

1. Created useless and assumptive thread on AT Garage.
2. Suggested another vehicle that she didn't want.
3. Attempted to offer help at dealership.

But really, this happened:

1. Incorrect assumptions.
2. She flirted her way to a $33,000 payout, in line with KBB, not Black Book.
3. She picked out the Mercedes.
4. She flirted and got what she wanted at a reasonable price. Paying cash helped.

Moral of the story:

NO PICTURES.
