I ordered a Canon PSC 20 case off ebay for my A70 back in late April of this year. After about 2 weeks of it not showing up I email the guy and he's nice enough to mail out another one. I got that one fine. All said and done, I figured the first one got lost in the mail and would never show up.

Well, today it showed up. Unbelievable. And the envelope it came in looks just fine. Looks like it was just sitting somewhere being overlooked. Well, it was coming from Hawaii, so who knows.

Anyways, it was shipped First Class on May 3,'03 and shows up on August 6, '03. First class 2-5 days?

Anyways, score one for me, brother-in-law has an A70 and father-in-law to be has an A40, I'm sure they'll get some use out of it :)

I just got an email back from him. Here it is...

Just out of curiousity, what was the ship out date on it? I'm speechless. This is the first time something like has ever happened! I know items get lost, but usually if its missing for 4 weeks, then it's gone for good. This is the first time it actally made it to the buyer after this length of time!

I admire your honesty and at this point, since so much time has passed, why don't you keep it as a spare. I can't blame you for what is obviously a post office mistake. I wish I could get a refund from them.

Anyway, thanks for writing!

The honest thing to do would be to not keep the 2nd one. Since you only paid for the first one, send the second one back to the guy you bought it from. For one it's the honest thing to do. Two, since you posted about it on ATOT, the world knows and it's only a matter of time before the seller hunts you down to reclaim it. ;)

Definitely contact the seller. He's probably already filed an insurance claim, the delivery may affect that.

The seller probably got it from dell. I ordered that case from Dell in April and it hasn't came yet. I haven't cancelled it either.

It's the right thing to do. I hate USPS as well. They took over a month and a half to deliver a Dreamcast I bought last year. It got sent to the wrong zip and everything and tracking had confirmed that it was delivered. I'm never going to ship a package through them....but they're the roxors on letters. ;)

It's possible the seller got paid via insurance (although I doubt that item was worth much, and he/she probably didn't insure it...). If they did, they may tell you to keep it anyway. I'd email seller either way, karma's a bitch.

Ahh, if it's only $6 he probably won't care... Just to make sure I'd drop him an e-mail, but if it's only worth that much it probably won't matter.

Hmm... Thinking some DNT lists are getting updated from this thread...

The "RIGHT" thing to do is drop the seller a note. If it's only a $6 item, it probably wasn't insured. So he's eating the $6.

Maybe he didn't leave any feedback because he wasn't sure if you really didn't get the item.

Bwhahaha - I accidentally mailed a package off to myself, and it took 4 days for the damned thing to get mailed back to me :frown:
