[UPDATE: Restored for some ppl] Youtube removes 'sort by view count/upload date'

lol wtf google. That's such a basic feature. Youtube was so much better before Google bought it. I don't know why they have a quest in making it more and more terrible. I've thought about starting a youtube like site but I'd hate having to deal with all the copyright BS. That and I don't really have much money for the server infrastructure that would be required. 😛

No sh!t. And this just helps boost the copyright infringing vids and artificially boosted vids.
 
I just noticed this last night and assumed that they hid it somewhere stupid. I don't understand a single update Google/YouTube have made in the last ~weeks.

Say you're looking for a video using a few keywords, you'll get 50 pages worth of videos with 23, 200, 16 views etc, because some jackass added the entire dictionary to his tags. Filtering by views lets you find videos you're looking for faster.
 
Yup, noticed a little while ago you can't sort the search results at all anymore. Just filters, but there are very few useful options.

I've never used anything but the searchbox. I can't think of a reason I'd want to search by view count. I guess it should be there for people who want it, but it doesn't seem useful to me.

WTF is right...I hadn't noticed that but now they just have a filter for 'today, this week, this month' etc. Fvcking retarded.

Anyone know the previous link addendums for these sorts?
 
Anybody know what the point of the change is?

I can think of two things:
1) it's not used very often and required some sort of extra back-end work to support
2) trying to unify interfaces (maybe with Google Plus?)

The new interface is complete shit.

Why the fuck is it left aligned? And why does it now take me two clicks to get to the videos that the people I subscribe to have uploaded, where before it took zero?

I do like the new "Listen to the top 10 tracks" feature when you listen to music on there. Makes listening to music while playing games easier.

Probably to increase churn and load more ads when looking for what we want. They'll say that it helps more obscure videos get discovered by FORCING us to dig through and their algorithms will promote the vids we find.
 
Theres pretty much no way to browse tags anymore, and all the stuff I get reccomended is stuff I WATCHED

"we suggested this because you watched the same video"
 
Yep, they really screwed the pooch on this update. I could kinda deal with the ads, even though they are on every other damn video on the site, but the new layout and the problems with it are just ruining it for me.
 
Sort by view count was completely useless because people spammed keywords in their videos. So you could be searching about horses and you sort by view count and get a video of a fat guy falling off his bike.

What Google really needs to do is improve the searching for Youtube. They did it for search results. They suck at it for Youtube videos.
 
I've used sort by oldest/newest when looking up news relevancy stuff a few times a month. That made it quick to cut through bullshit.
Shitty move.
