So to start off, i am chicken when it comes to scary movies.

no everyone who knows me has told me empahtically *not* to watch the movie as it is soo disturbing and scary that i would hate it. Now im extremely (morbidly) curious. I know of the genreal premise that you watch some tape and you die 7 days later.

now my question is how can a movie with such a ridiculous plot line be soooo screwed up?

whats the verdict, is that scary?

btw: i shut the Others off cause all the pale faced white people screaming was creeping me out. and i thought critters was pretty scary as well as chucky

update:

boy was that a total piece of garbage, that wasnt scarey at all, give me a break its a little girl, just kick her in the face but on the other hand the main girl character was very curvasious ;)

It's pretty scary, but not so scary that you'd hate it, IMHO. The Night of the Living Dead remake, or the old Texas Chainsaw Massacre were scarier.

Blair Witch Project = bad campfire story
The Ring = Bad chain mail story

I think it is supposed to be more visually scary than nightmare scary.

Eh? End of Days? The Arnold Movie? If so, the only way that movie was scary was because it was so bad it made you want to cry.

Seeing how scared you get I think you'll find it it scary. Otherwise, it's only a tad bit scary for normal people. A few scenes here and there but otherwise, meh.

If you want to see a REAL scary movie, watch another Japanse movie called "Juon". Now THAT's scary. If you're friends thought the Ring was scary, hehe...

The Ring was pretty good but it didn't "scare" me that much. I will say that I prefer the creepy movies like Stir of Echoes over the standard slasher/monster movies.

Blair Witch scared the crap out of me. I've never been really scared by gory monster/psycho killer movies.

If you couldn't take the Others, you aren't going to be able to handle this movie.

i think its scary, but not story wise. story wise its not scary, but visually yes, its disturbing. you should be okay though. you might be scared to do stuff for a few days after, but its not that bad. id say if you can take sixth sense, the ring is no toughie.

you sound just like me. i'm also a big chicken when it comes to scary movies. unfortunately, my curiosity is stronger than my fear and i end up seeing movies like the ring and being scared for months.

i eventually get over it but then someone goes and sends me a disturbing image from the movie and i'm back where i started.

even to this day certain environments creep me a little because of this movie.

that being said, i thoroughly enjoyed it, though i should have brought a sweater to hide behind because my fingers just weren't cutting it.

Go watch the original japanese movie that The Ring was based on , its called RINGU.

Much better in my opinion as it doesn't explain as much. Watch The Ring if you don't like subtitles.

The Ring and RINGU are psychological horror movies though. its like peppers. Some hit you right away, others give a slow burn.

I was not scared with The Ring /RINGU/Blair Witch until several hours later when I was sleeping alone.

After Blair witch, I would continuously look at the corners of my room when I was in bed.

I saw both, and I didn't care for Ringu much.

Part of the scary appeal of The Ring were some of the special effects, which Ringu was pretty harshly lacking.
I didn't think it was bad by any means, just much harder to get into and get creeped out by because I kept catching myself smiling at scenes that should've been scary. :D

i don't understand how people can be scared by movies. guess i'm too disconnected. i do like scaring people while watching scary movies with them.
