Bought myself a 2000 Suburban LT, it has 83,000 miles, but runs like a champ. Paid just over $19,000 for it, got $16,500 for my truck. Total out the door swap price was $3,000 including TT&L. :)It is black on the outside, tan interior. Fully equiped of course, heated leather seats, captains chairs (even in the middle row), 7" LCD/TV entertainment system, etc.Had to drive 200 miles to get it. Found it on the Internet (naturally) and it was in a dealership located a good 3 hour drive away, but I got the details over the phone, drove there this afternoon after my last flight, bought it and drove it home. It drives very nice, no weird noises, squeaks, or rattles...Very happy! :DI'll post pics tomorrow once I get a chance to take some during the day.Grasshopper

I think you need Snoop's 'From tha chuuuch to da palace' track playing while cruising.

No you want a 2000, the 1999 (My year) was the new LS based engines initial year in the trucks. While I've had zero problems with mine (Infact I can't get it to blow up so I can put a 6 liter in there) the 2000 has a better CAM, Intake, Composit bed, "Smurf Fluid" (Auto-Trac II) in the X-fer case. In 2001 again had better programming and a better MAF, then in 2002 was the removal of the EGR, each year was on average on a dyno a 9TQ increase in power @ the Wheels (GM still rates it at 325lbs, it's way off), along with other improvements to things like the Slip Yoke is now Stainless vs Nickle plating, in 2003 I guess now the HVOC is all new, controls added to the steering wheel and the brakes are now bigger (Mine have over 50K trailoring miles and still look new)... I'll stop there, any questions I'll be here till 5 ;)

It says you posted at 5:45 pm

what timezone are you in?

I have a question.. how is it possible for brakes to be new after 50K? mine had 50,000 KMS and were completely gone ( not exactly aggressive driving all the time )
Mountain it's 5:30 now

you have small pads and rotors

Mmmm sounds good to me! Of course I'd prefer the 2002, since thats what his is. That 5.3 is surprisingly quick, in fact the truck holds its own against another friends 94' Lightning...up untill the Z71 hits the governer at like 97. Haven't hauled with it, but it sure is fun in a muddy field ;) Get stuck? Put the 4wd into auto and launch on out of there. All from the comfort of your heated leather seats.

There is just something wrong with that picture...

Going mudding?

Four wheel drive - $2,500

Driving in luxury in heated leather seats?

Luxury package - $3,000

Going mudding in heated leather seats?

Priceless... :)

grasshopper:

nice find. those expeditions are crap. People buy them because they are expensive and huge but they suck (not just gas!). suburban eh? nice a little to large for me. but i had a 1989 surburban. man it was great. a huge powerfull truck that i could tow anything i wanted. ah! ahr! arr! (tim allan grunting sounds)

personally if i get a SUV i woull either get a Honda Pilot, or a ford escape. my wife's Escort is due to be traded in (70k miles and paid off!). so we migh trade that in. If we do i'm going to try to talk her into letting me get a F150 lightning or honda accord v6 stick shift. :D

Yea... If you haven't been in a modern Suburban, you don't know what you're missing. I've been in those old 1989 Suburbans, might as well not be the same truck for the differences. :)

Nothing wrong with either of those. I'd suggest the Honda Pilot, Honda lasts forever... Seen their commercials? Just weld the hood shut and drive off... :)

Not 100% true, but close. :D

yeah i have had a few honda accords. i had one when i was 15 (had license since i was 13) that had 120k miles. i drove it a year and never changed the oil and beat the crap out of it. ended up getting $300 for it heh

The pilot is great. but i dont like buyng new cars and you cant get a used honda for cheap like you can a ford. so i would probably get new. sigh such a pain

Honda/Toyota/Nissan - you buy new

Anything American or German - you buy used

This is the way of things...

I have had really good luck with my Expedition, that is why I posted about the miles on grasshopper26's truck.

My 99 Expedition has a little over 92,000 miles on it and I have only had to put in a taillight bulb, an alternator and a battery. Still starts every day, and puts up with all the abuse I can heave on it. Cobbles up the front tires pretty badly, but I have never seen a Ford 4x4 that didnt.

But hey, if grasshopper26 got 16,500 for his trade...........:D

Do you still own it? I also had to replace the alternator and battery. Went through several light bulbs, but recently it just doesn't always start well. The battery is good, as is the starter. It needed brakes, tires, shocks, etc...

I would probably have ended up spending a thousand bucks on it in refresh work, so I figured it was time to trade. I was getting a bit sick of rough ride too. The 2000 and newer Suburbans have a very nice coil link suspention system compared to the leaf springs in the 1999 Expedition. Of course the totally independant suspention in the 2003 Expedition is nice, but I won't buy a new American truck. :) Can't afford it anyway...

Why? That isn't great, just average... My 99 Expy was a 4x4 Eddie Bauer with the 17" tires. :) It really is worth about $16,500, give or take a few hundred. The Black Book shows it between $15,500 and $18,000 depending on the details. Car Max offered me $16,500 and another dealer offered me the same money. These things are just getting traded in like crazy because of the new 2003 that has come out.

Sigh...

The 2000 Suburban is still the current design and desireable, so they tend to cost more. I just found this at the right price. Lots of miles on it too, but if you get the right truck they last forever, Ford or Chevy. :)

Suburbans are indeed great. Wanted one two years ago but they were still expensive since they had only been out about a year or so.

I rolled my 75 blazer over a year ago and thought about buying a sub to put the drive train in ( over $5000 usd in the drive train )
if you didnt know the 75 blazerwas the last year they made it with a FULL removeable top ( just like a convertable, front windshield back come off )
