This is an update to a previous thread where I basically asked for advice on getting a CPU only WC setup inside a SG02 SFF case.
I ordered a radiator and made some attempts to mount it. Here is a quick snapshot. This is just a proof of concept picture. I plan on being much neater when I actually set up the WC.
I have since remounted it a little bit lower and a litter further back. I have also moved the mount to the middle fan instead of the first one. I had originally planned to use two mounts but I discovered that they are actually a little bit bigger than the fans and so they won't fit side by side. The radiator is a Swiftech MCR320-QP. The fans are Yates Loon low speed 120mm.
You will notice that the top barb will lead right into the DVD burner drive which is why I had to drop it down a little. Now the bottom barb is a little too low and the top barb is a little too high so I am going to have to sweep the tubing a little to get it into the case. I figure I will either need something like these 45 degree adapters, I will be able to sweep them easily or its impossible/impractical. I have decided on this 3/8 tubing with some smart coils. I think it will bend easier although the trade off is of course that it will kink easier too.
I plan on cutting one side of the case and bolting it down to the frame for reinforcement against the weight of the radiator. I have an idea for making the bolting easy on/easy off and attractive. This is where I plan to cut it. . I have a friend who can help me with the cutting and I already have that neophrene rubber edge trim. Cutting the case will also allow me to remove the other two sides of the case cover to access the video card and just about anything else I need to get my hands on.
Here are a couple of pictures of the inside of the case to give you an idea of how much space I have to work with. The fan is an 80mm. Most of the left side of the case will be taken up by my GTX 295, which has not arrived yet
Most of my space is going to be what you see under the 5.25 bays. This basically means I have 3.15"x5.25" for a pump. The CPX PR0 will fit if I use it on its side which allow me to have the intake facing the radiator and the exit facing the CPU.
I am internally debating whether to go with a CPX Pro pump and a D-Tec FuZion V2 waterblock or one of those Apogee pump/block combination deals.
I currently have a AMD 6000+ but would like to upgrade to a PhII 940 soon. I plan on OCing like a madman.
So, what do you guys think? Any advice? Should I keep going? Am I destined for failure?
I really would like some input!
