WTF..did I read that right? He went from a 5200 to a 9200? Talk about a waste of time and money.

Only thing he didn't update is the onboard sound

Why so much hate on the 5700U? I presumed it was a good card. Can then 5900 be bought for around $200? Thanks for the info guys.

He has a spare P3-733 with 256MB Ram (But its a DELL) and mATX board. So he can only use that for so much. I told him to get the 5200 PCI version for that system [since that's his only option, instead he bought the AGP version for the Athlon

In that case, let him not listen to his more knowledgable friend and waste his money. Let him get an FX5900, then when his games still run like crap, tell him he needs to upgrade the CPU, mobo, and RAM. Sounds like he'd have a pretty good system once he's done.

Also, I think he made the right choice with getting the AGP version of the video card. Why are you encouraging him to upgrade the P3 733 anyway? With those specs, I wouldn't put any money into that box.

Edit: almost forgot, Cheers Nebor! that rocks!
