Update: Now Marooned in Sunny Chicago

Update: due to tropical storm Linus I am extending my trip. Where should I catch the Super Bowl?

Thought January would be a lovely month to visit the old Windy City.

I have a day or two free to do whatever. What should I do, Where should I go, and what shouldn't I miss?

Will be there this weekend.

Also food?

Personally, I don't mind the cold. Last time I visited was the middle of February, but I didn't have any opportunities to do things then.

I keep googling events and things going on, but it's like the city is on hibernate mode.

And is it weird that the only shows that come up for Chicago are burlesque shows?

Field Museum
Shedd Aquarium
Museum of Science and Industry
Art Institute (never been but it's supposed to be good)

You're braver than I this time of the year, but I have always wanted to see a few of the museums there myself.

Food, yes. Great food scene and one of my favorite drinking cities in the US. What you do and where you eat/drink might depend on where you stay.

use the search feature here. I think "what to do in Chicago" is a monthly thread in ATOT.

Except Chicago isn't much of a tourist city. Past threads haven't had anything wonderful in them, and those not from Chicago couldn't possibly believe how little exists in such a large city, the previous threads most certainly have something missing from them. Year after year Woodfield Mall is Illinois' top tourist attraction. That's saying something for sure.

As for the thread subject, check out the Star Wars Burlesque show?

If you take up that guy's offer to say with him, there's a ski jump next town over!

Portillos! https://www.portillos.com/portillos/

I was born in Arlington Heights and have family there. So when I vist I have to get a few Italian beefs and Chicago hot dogs. Hell, O'hare as Chicago hot dogs!

I'm sure there are other great Italian beef places though.

There's a place down the street here that I order from on a weekly basis. I swear my muscles are made of Italian beef and Philly cheese steaks.
