Well I just recieved the new processor today and popped it into my new rig:

2.53GHZ Pentium 4 SL6S2 (L248A715-1025) and Thermaltake Spark 7
Gigabyte SINXP1394
Geil Platinum Ultra PC3500 DDR 1GB (512 x 2)

I'm just wondering what the default voltage is on this thing because it is booting up as using 1.602V, I'm not sure if it's overvolting or what. The system is running well, installing Windows XP Pro as I am typing this on my laptop, hopefully I'll see a good overclock out of this one. My chip is a MultiVID right? Also, what are some normal chip temps for this? I'll start overclocking here in a bit!!!

Is that what you had the voltage set at before putting in the CPU from your last Processor?.See if you can set the voltage to default in the bios.Yes it s a multivid.High 30's 38-39C seems to be where you lijke to see the temps or even low 40'sC at idle.Somew mobo's just report high temps like the Abit BH7 so it doesn't necessarily mean thats what the real temp is.

This is the first processor I've had in this baord so I doubt that''s the problem, I'm looking at around 38 C idle right now but my room is like an oven because of no AC! I'll see what happpens, just updated BIOD to F5, I have my memory in slots 1 and 3, this is dual channel mode correct?

same chip as mine ~ expect about 3344mhz on default vcore (1.525v)

Gigabyte SINXP? oh well maybe not ;)

Ya, I had probably around 30 or so bent pins nothing than an exacto knife and a credit card couldn't fix though! so the default core on this should be 1.525V? Alright, well, I'm going to start overclocking once I get everything going right...at the moment I'm running 19x150 or 2.85GHZ just to burn things in a little bit...I'll get serious here in a little bit...

Ok, what's going on, I just tried booting my FSB over 155MHZ and the system wouldn't post...anything I should know about overclocking on the SINXP?

What is your RAM ratio and timings? It is best to have the timings set to Manual with the SINXP. There is a wealth of info Here that should help.

Nothing at all. Just the great overclocking these boards seem to show. Sorry, for the sarcasm, it appears you won't get anymore out of it. Forget about mem timings and everthing else. Some of these gigabyte sinxp are duds when it comes to overclocking. I think it's short on chipset voltage, but no one seems to want to work on what the problem may be. You can go here to read up some more. There are quite a few posts about how it runs rock stable at a certain fsb speed and then won't even post one tick more. I had the same issue and kept hearing mem timings and all that other BS but I even lowered the damn ram speed below 1:1 ratio with very slow ram timings with the same stuff. I RMA'd the board and got one that reaches 180mhz fsb stable, but not much more even though my 2.4 would get 185mzh fsb on my old Albatron 845pe chipset board.

If you do wanna try to get some more out of your board, try 2.5-3-3-7 for ram timings or even 2.5-4-4-8 and see what it'll do. Try one stick and also try putting 2 sticks in the opposite slots you have them in now.

Ok, my memory is set at 2-2-2-6 and my CPU voltage seems to default at 1.6V instead of 1.525V. I'll look at some of the posts and see what I can find, hopefully something will work...

Set your memory at 2.5/3/3/7 this will take the ram out of the way and see how far your CPU will go.Later you can tweak your memory timings. From reading the other posters in your thread sounds like the mobo is crap POS and doesn't overclock well.Sounds like they are saying or hinting to get rid of it.

Well considering that I just got this thing I'm a little pissed...hmmm...well, after reading some posts at asusboards, seems like some of these boards cap out around 154FSB...so I gues I'll be happy with that for a little while until Prescott at least, I mean 2.926GHZ is pretty descent! And yes, my AGP/PCI is locked at 66/33.

Yeah that sucks.Oh well its still pretty good for what you have to deal with. The Abit BH7 is a pretty cheap mobo or the Albatron for even a little less.Otherwise you will have to be content with what you have.

It could be likely the gigabyte sis655 mobo overvolts.....Some do!!!

Also the muli-vid chips can come 1.475, 1.5, or 1.525v...It is likely yours was a 1.525v one though....

Well it seems that through the magic of Easy Tune 4 the motherboard that wasn't able to get past 150FSB was able to get my chip up to 169MHZ FSB...now the only problem with this was that I ran a loop of 6 hours for 3DMark 2001SE and another 6 hours of PC Mark 2002, 6 hours of Sandra's Burn-In Wizard and then tried for some prime 95 to complete stability tests. The only problem was that after about 5 minutes of Prime95 the program gave me a rounding error. So I try and bump up the voltage and get the same thing. Then I lower the speed and continue to get rounding errors until I am back to a FSB of 150 where previously I had been able to run prime for 24 hours without fail, but now am even getting rounding errors there! What's the problem here? Is there something wrong with my hardware or since my PC ran all the other tests should I ignore it? I am going to go and put everything back on default and test again...
