As far as I'm concerned, LCD monitors are only just now starting to mature, and therefore its in your best interest to wait until they are adopted a little more and the newer, mature technology becomes a commodity and reaches the price point that you want. At this point, the 'cheap' LCDs simply arent worth the money when you compare to a similarly priced CRT.

That said, if you're in the market for a good monitor, I would reccomend the Hyundai/ImageQuest Q910. I just got one and I love it, colors are vibrant, brightness isn't all screwed up, the text is sharp and theres no distortion around the edges. Its not an Arperature grille monitor, so theres no lines across the screen either.

You can pick one up for $200 at newegg :)

Well maybe my eyes and my wifes eyes are bad because we LOVE this NEC 15" LCD text is sharp, the colors are sharp and vibrant, The brightness is awesome!!!!

I do agree with you about the price problem compared to CRT's But like I said my wife likes LCD more than CRT's and its her choice. She's not a gamer and she loves her new 15" LCD, We will upgrade in about 5 or 6 months to a 17"
LCD thanks to SAMS CLUB policy.

Plus I use a laptop for my computer and I would never go back to CRT now that I have been in front of my LCD for 3 years.
