<< wait wait...yahoo is makin us pay to use their "great emai" service? >>

You only have to pay if you use their pop3/forwarding service. You can still use their webmail for free.

I have been using Fastmail.fm for the past 3 days and I must say how impressed I am with how flexible and powerful it is..... With Amexmail I had to click several screens to delete junk mail, but I can list up to 500 msgs on screen with fastmail, very cool. I'm not sure how long they have been around or how long they will last. They are definitely worth a look....

Most of the alternatives are smaller companies that may themselves crumble someday. It's better to stick with Yahoo, Hotmail as they are bigger companies.

Did anybody ever end up complaining to either Amex or Amexmail regarding supposedly free service you signed up for? I was on hold with Amexmail for awhile and gave up.

I've been using aliensoup and mail.com for quite a while now. I prefer aliensoup as the service is better but both have been working well for me.

Here is what I did for the longest time...

Buy a domain name... (Only about $9.00 a year). Get an account at zoneedit.com (free) to forward your mail to any account that you like.

Actually, you should do that in the reverse order... when you sign up for zoneedit, they will tell you what your name servers will be... they have several, so you will want to do that first.

After you have done this, you can use any free email provider you like that provides pop3 access. You can create an unlimited amount of forwarding addresses on zoneedit and you can even set up a catch all. If you have to change pop3 providers again, no problem... just go into your zoneedit account and change the forwarding.

Just my $0.02

looking at fastmail.fm and myrealbox.com ... both very nice. But what does it for me, is that you can download your messages from fastmail.fm and archive them! very nice feature. i think i will go with them.

Fastmail.fm also has a bounce feature -- which supposedly bounces your emailback to SPAMMERS --"email does not exist...etc" Dunno if this does more harm than good though....

fastmail.fm is so outstanding I can't sing its praises enough. It has great support, it has many options, it has a free option, and it does IMAP, which you simply MUST try if you travel or have more than one machine you use.

I have used it for 6 months and nothing comes close.

If anybody is interested, I can set up a FREE forwarding of email from yourname@andreys.com to any email address or addresses you would like. There are absolutely no ads or any other promotional stuff in the forwarded email. Just plain and free :)

Please email or PM me if you're interested.

Personally, I feel that yahoo has given me the most values over the years and they've given it for free! It's amazing how long they have been able to provide this level of service w/o charging a penny. For a measely $20/year, which could be gained by purchasing the dell canon s200 and ebaying the bad boy (if ur into that type of thing). Anyhow, $20 is only until 4/24 so do it now else you'll be paying $30/year if you want it after the date. You might have to buy and sell two s200 to make that kind of money! :-> Good luck finding an email address ya'll.

I'm sort of stuck with Amexmail (USA.net), because I have my USA.net email address on my business cards. I was sick of changing ISP's and then having to redo my business cards or lose contact with people because they didn't know my new address, so I was using USA.net's mail forwarding feature to keep my email constant. Now that they are charging for the service, I'm sort of stuck. $2.50 a month isn't the end of the world though. I just hope that the service is more reliable though now that they are charging for it. I've had a few spotty issue's with the email forwarding, but overall it's been fine.

Anyway.. That's my story..

yahoo mail has been horrible the last few months via POP access. Sending has been a nightmere. on and off all the time.
I'm all for cuttin back... Using my ISP for real mail and hotmail fer the junk. Hotmail works great with office xp. (outlook) just like a POP but better cause yer logged on directly to their servers.

Been with yahoo for ages... they get advertisments in every email they send and in all the addresses... now they need $??? I dont really understand...

Whew!!! by the title, I thought you meant Yahoo Mail wasn't going to be free anymore. I've had my account since 96. I'd probably pay for it (and I'm sure I will have to in the less than distant future) though...It's always been good to me

Anyone know how to download the Amexmail emails off of their website. If it was hotmail, I could use office XP but not with Amexmail!
Any help would be appreciated.

qjj, Amexmail has had a POP3 server right along (pop.amexmail.com), so why not use that? Do you mean you only have a Web account with them? If so, you can use Web2POP.

To the originator of this thread, when you said "First I was with Netaddress which migrated us to Amexmail...", what did you mean by migrated? When Netaddress went to a pay model last summer, they didn't migrate anyone to the still-free Amexmail (they would have been foolish to do so). Of course, at that time you could have signed up for a new Amexmail account, but not using the same address you had at Netadress, since both companies freeze addresses for six months.

Another one from Russia
POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, Secure access, 20 MB Mailbox, 15MB Message size, no junk mails or footers, no marketing questionaries, choose form several domains.
What else can you ask for?
