Clinton is on his way to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, where he will try to win the release of Laura Ling and Euna Lee, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said, citing an unidentified high-level source.

Kim Yong-hyun, a professor at Seoul's Dongguk University: "I think it's not just about journalists. It will serve as a turning point in the U.S.-North Korea relations," he said.

Pyongyang has expressed strong interest in one-on-one negotiations with Washington, while claiming it won't return to six-nation nuclear negotiations involving China, Japan, the two Koreas, Russia and the United States.

Could this be the international diplomacy breakthrough Obama and the US need? I think North Korea is more suited for diplomacy than Iran; N. Korea already has the bomb, they are in a terrible economic situation, and all they seem to want is the attention they clamor for.

The Obama administration is rewarding North Korea for its bad behavior by sending ex-president Bill Clinton to Pyongyang to win the release of two US journalists, the former US ambassador to the UN said Tuesday.

If we removed all sanctions today the only effect would be to further bolster the party elites, the NK serfs would still be starving.
