I bought a run-of-the-mill Olds that was a "fleet car" - one year old and had 30K miles on it, for about half of what it cost new. Now it's eight years old and has 120K miles, and in that time I've replaced the o2 sensor and a water pump. Everything else done was wear items and regular maintenance.

Me either. I used to work for a rental car company. No matter how good you are at setting maint. schedules for your cars if someone is there and wants to pay you money to rent it the car isn't going in for an oil change, it's going out on the road. I saw cars come in from other offices with 30k+ miles on the original factory oil filter and/or almost no oil in the engine.

Oh, rental cars are considered fleet vehicles BTW.

Last time my wife got stuck with a POS Monte Carlo I drove it around for 30 minutes in 1st gear. It will shift out of gear regardless when you redline the engine and leave it there for a few seconds. Man, that engine temp was really up there when I got home and it wasn't shifting smoothly. I pity the fool who buys that car when it goes to auction or the used car lot. :p

Every car on that page is nicer looking than the SC430. never liked the look of those, now the SC400, that's a nice car.

It is not a rental though, from what I have been reading, it just means the car was purchased as a company vehicle. I know both my parents purchased their vehicles as company cars which gave them a huge write off. Heck and the way my father treats his S500 its better used then new almost..

Plus I work for a 4 billion dollar company and our company cars are Acura TL's and they are for traveling executives only, and they sure dont abuse them..

haha I think Im just trying to make myself feel better about this rather large purchase... decisions decisions...

My employer has fleet vehicles. They track the maintenance on them very closely, and if we don't take the car in for regularly scheduled maintenence, the fleet management company sends nasty email, and our budget gets charged for any problems.

Fleet vehicle or not, with only 20k miles, you're (probably) fine on it.

the woman next door drives a (leased) company vehicle.. they get her a new one every other year.. for years they were towncars but the previous one was a cute little volvo and the one she has now is a mercedes suv. must be nice..

anyway.. I don't think they lease enough vehicles to technically qualify as a fleet (2, total), but since it is a corporate lease, it probably does appear that way, when they get resold. she puts a fair amount of mileage on it (she travels a lot for work) but while she has the car it is her only.. primary.. personal vehicle so she takes good care of it.

After hearing all the good advice, Im going to buy it, it still has a 30,000 mile factory warranty with 20 months left on it, plus I can get an extended bumper to bumper warranty for 2000 that will last 100,000 miles 5 years.

By then I will probably upgrade, so no worries.

Thanks again folks.
