[Update:I joined!] I have +-4300 w/u's on current team, can I leave and join AT with w/u's?

Ok, here's the deal, I'm a founding member of a group, since I'm not really getting any competition from the team I'm considering joining Team Anandtech. I believe I've read somewhere that when you leave a team you leave your points with them and start fresh with the new team. Not necessarily that you lose all the w/u's you've already done, but that the ones you have completed don't go towards the current team.

Since I'm the founder I would like to think that SETI would let me dissolve the team and retain the points but I may be hoping too much here.

Did I mention that I just built a new dual 1600+ box? :)

Hi! :) Follow this link and you can join TA. Despite what the SETI page says, your WUs will follow you wherever you go and belong to whatever team you are on at the moment, they never implemented having your WUs stay with whatever team you were with when they were produced.

He, he Rattledagger is immensely qualified to answer this question. :D

Go ahead and answer Rattledagger 'cause you need to get your forum post count up. :)

/you can't delete a post but you could edit it and replace it with a smiley.....but it's too late now/ LOL ;) :D

Seriously, SoulAssassin I believe you can find some competition here no matter your level of production and you'll be looking for more (production)...just like the rest of us.

And don't leave your ole teammates behind, we'd love to have them join also. We are in a heated race trying to stay ahead of DSL Reports and trying to overtake IBM in the World All Groups Category. I'm a founder of another group myself but I've found a lot of fun and friendship here on Team AnandTech SETI. :D

I was in that exact position myself - I started a group for my local school then they decided not to support it.
I left and joined TA - all my WU's came with me and though the old group still exists it has no WU's.

We'd love to have you join TA-Seti! We'd feel the same if you brought ZERO wu's with you.

Except when it gets really cold outside and we start to freeze our butts off, we close it then... But it's not like it's locked or anything... ;)

Yep, you sure can join our TeAm and have the WUs transfer! :D

When I had first started doing the SETI project, I'd been the founder of a local group called "GRLanParty" for the group of us that got together and gamed on weekends. Unfortunately, not many others in my group continued with it, so I was looking for a larger well respected team to join, and TA is where I ended up being. I was able to leave my "group" and join TA. Eventually, I got my other gaming friends, Rocker and Legoman, to join TA as well. :)

A warm welcome to you! :)

the seti site is incorrect... my guess is that they intended it to be that way but it would take too much processing power/database space to figure out where each WU belongs.

and of course we'd love to have you join!

So I gave in and joined, ok it really didn't take much pressure, I just didn't want to risk being the guy on the bottom of the list. :) Currently #60 but soon moving up the list.

Will also move over my alternate acct (c_v) that has 800 w/u's and I'm working on the other guys from the team. Just out of curiosity, since I have the password for both my acct and the alternate acct, is there a way to combine the two? Also, anyway I can change my SETI name (funk2000) to something else w/out re-registering?

You can change your SETI@Home account name, but you cannot combine accounts, unfortunately. :( Happy to have you aboard! :)

Welcome aboard!

Changing your name is no problem since you have your password just go to the usser account area and change the data.

As steve said unfortunately merging accounts is something that can't be done at this point and I don't know of any plans to implement a feature like that.
