Ok, so I go to MSU, and I'm a freshman this year.

Our highschool teachers warned us of these foriegn T.A.'s, and how we might have trouble understanding them. I didnt worry.

Well, I now know what they mean.

I mean JESUS, it like, you can barely understand what he's saying.

He'll be like, "Leesen up class, thees next par is very impotant to understanding how to proove leemits -- CHING CHONG DONG WONG KIM SUM DOW WUU . Any Question?"

My face at that point is like

Mann, I'm not sure how I'm gonna make it through this Fall term.

:(

UPDATE:

Well, I made this post in the begining of the school year, and now, I have about 6 hours till' my final.
Overall, this guy was a good. Overtime, his accent seemed like plain english, and thanks to his teaching, It's safe to say I'll be at a 3.0 for the class after the exam! :)

You do study outside of class, don't you? Believe me, most of the stuff that professors/TAs teach, generally (especially in math) are usually covered in those $2000 math books you have to buy...

On the flip side, however....maybe he has a hard time understanding you too?

... I think i may have, lol.
I basically teach myself with our math text book everyday afterclass. ONLY THEN do I seem to understand the notes I took in class.

You're a tard for two reasons:

#1 - If you know it's gonna sound racist, why would you say it. The "CHING CHONG DONG WONG KIM SUM DOW WUU" part really exemplifies this point.

#2 - You're taking freshman calc and you feel you need instruction. Read the fvkcing book asshat.

I'm having the same problem with my advanced hydraulics professor.

How am I supposed to know that "...Tayik de mayorments of wiwer..." is "...taking measurements of the river..."

Try reading ahead. If you're one lesson ahead of the professor, class will make perfect sense.

He's not being racist, this is a valid problem. Had you gone to school you would've known that :)

I left NJIT due to this retarded problem.

1. When I vent, I don't hold back what I say. I say whatever I want.
2. I do read my book. See my 2nd post on this thread.

I'll probably look into that.
I know that my chem class let's us go to other lectures, but there are 200 people in my chem class. This calc class is no bigger than 20 students. Plus he hasn't mentioned anything yet either.

On the flipside, there is free tutoring, if I need help, so thats cool.

I hear ya there....I had german, czech, indian, africaan, and spansih proffs throughout college...the funniest one was the czech though he was just creepy...everything he said he was like he was behind enemy lines transfering vital information in a whisper like they do in the movies.
The worst was the german, he hadn't mastered about 3/4 of the english language and still wasn't used ot how to write numbers on the board. Half the time he would write everything the opposite way (it was a math class) as they do over there and we'd be lost for a good portion of the class because he would NOT turn around and address us hardly.

Had the same issue with a calculus TA back in college, it was very tense, for people kept asking him to repeat himself, and he thought we were busting his chops. At least 70% of the class dropped out, I had to stay, for I needed the requirement. :(

Is it too late to find another calc class? Or just take anything else and make up this class next quarter?

I thought about it, but I think I'm just gonna rough it out. I'm sure this isn't gonna be the first bad T.A. I'm gonna have. Can't go and drop a class everytime I cant understand um... :(

But yea, I'm also takin this class as a requirement for Engineering.

I hear ya. My Artificial Intelligence Programming II professor pronounced "back-chaining" as "purchini". How the fsck does THAT compute? I just had to do the readings all on my own, and got out of there with a C.

NJIT dropout vs. UIUC BSEE,MSEE & UCSB PhDEE

I guess good things happen to those who can hack it.

Dude, trust me, freshman Calculus isn't that bad.

My financial equity risk management professor (well, he is not a prof yet, he'll be done in December) has been in U.S. for the past 10 years and hardly speaks any English. How this guy got 2 masters and a Ph.D is still a mystery. But he is really funny/cool guy and posts everything he says&writes in class on class website, so it's all cool. He's Korean btw.

get use to it. engineering/science/math TAs are all like that. I hardly went to the discussions. And only sometimes went to class. And to top it off, i never taught myself. thats why i got alot of Cs.

the best TA was this hot phd student who taught a class. got a A- in that one even though i kept staring at her backside.

ha, you think you have it bad, our teachers sound like that.

I took a Programing class and I could not understand a word he was saying.

just find some people you can studying with and work in groups. it's a lot easier.

Incorrect. Those who can hack it create and earn a better life for themselves.

Happenstance has nothing to do with it.

My favorite math professor was from China... very broken English..
The hicks from rural towns in PA couldn't deal with the way he spoke.
The math majors thought the world of the guy and found his accent to be one of his endearing features...
We quickly learned to understand him. But then, we were probably more motivated to learn mathematics than people with soft majors (almost anything other than math/science/engineering = soft major IMHO)

2 points though, you forgot to add in the extra syllables... works like subtract become subatract. And, it's not "question", it's "kweshun"
