The guy who owns surplus computers is pretty notrious for being really shady so i am not surprised his company service is going downhill. I know this because he has been banned from a large california mustang forum for his shadiness and drama he caused on this board. All he did was frequent the boards just to advertise his car shop. He prob had over 1k post which all where something like "call up xxxx at (his company) we can take care of you" Its funny how the main shops/people we brought our business too didn't have to promote themselves EVER. They where always recommended by other forum members.

Recently, he called a mustang forum memembers work trying to get him fired for reasons that were not justified. He held a drawing sometime in January in which we had to send him our emails to qualify. Needless to say a couple months later.....there was no word of the winner. When asked about it (a couple days ago) he responded "somoene from out of state won" So now many of us are just left with spam.

He frequently defends himself saying how good of a guy he was and when a meet was held at his car shop he walked around the parking lot with a stick up his xxx and didn't even take the time to greet and talk to people.

In another incident a customers car was door panel was dmg while someone was working on it at his shop and talk make a long story short he did not try to make amends right away. He had to argue that his shop did not do it, even when the customer saw worker bang the door panel.

With that said the workers at both these companies are friendly and honest good people...too bad the owner does not follow suit.

If you want to read the numerous threads on the other board I can point you to them through pm if they havent been locked/deleted already. Just make sure to have some popcorn.

OK, this is getting out of hand with you going onto various boards bashing me and my businesses. I have never met or spoken with you but yet you seem to know everything about me and my businesses.

I was not banned from the CAfords.com because of any shady deals or drama caused by me. If we are so shady why do they still allow my company to posts deals and offers to their members? And your statement about "All I did was frequent the boards just to advertise my business" is false.. Our company, Apex Motorsports, has given free advise many times over on Cafords.com

As for the calling of a forum member trying to get him fired that is false. In fact, NOT 1 person who made this accusation was willing to ask his boss if "I ASKED for him to be fired"

Apex Motorsports has a mail order business in addtion to our physical shop and we were asking if people would be interested to be on our mailing list for special deals. We posted this offer on many sites including Corral.net, which is one of the largest Mustang based website in the world. After a couple of months we decided to have a drawing for the winner and it just so happens he was from out of state. When there are 49 other states besides California is it really so hard to believe the winner was from out of state? Also, due to our privacy policies we will NOT disclose OR SHARE any information about our customers OR winners in our drawings. Is that so bad and hard to believe? If you do not want to receive our email please opt out. We did not "spam" you with our emails.. you signed up for it and want to slam us for sending you spam? We have a very easy opt out function for our email list.... just follow the directions and you will no longer receive the emails which you signed up for.

This statement about me having a stick up my ass is crazy. We recently had a Open House at our shop and there was OVER 150 people at the event. There was a total of 2 employees and me fielding questions from 150+ customers. I am sorry I was not able to talk to you but I was swamped with questions from other people. Anyone who has ever met me will tell you that I definitely don't have a stick up my ass.

AND lastly... the damaged customer's car. The customer never contacted us about the damage until after he left the shop. Instead he posts it on Cafords.com and states he AND his friend SAW us cause the damage. My question is.. "IF" he really saw us cause the damage why would he not say something on the spot? He also NEVER contacted us via phone to discuss the damage only by email. I personally would walk over and say something if I saw the damage occuring. We then resolved the matter with the customer by offering to pay for half of the damage since there was no proof we caused the damage.

Mike, I'm not going to get in the middle of you and essasin's argument EXCEPT for to advice you that under California Rules for Operation of Contest and Sweepstakes (Business and Professions Code sections 17539-17539.3 and 17539.35 you MUST:

Every person conducting a contest must refund within one year of payment anything of value received from a participant making written request if the participant was unable to participate through no fault of his or her own. Upon request by any participant, a list of names of all winners, prizes, and correct (and winning) solutions must be provided. Upon request by any member of the public, the actual number and percentage of contestants correctly solving each puzzle or game in the most recently completed contest must be provided. The operator of the contest must keep detailed records of the contest for at least two years after all the prizes are awarded.

Chris,

By the time I received the email it was close to the end of the day for my customer service department. We don't have people working 24 hours in India and will have a resolution for you by 12PM Pacific time. I again apologize for the inconvience.

I've order a couple times from the site... no problems here..

And I look at the allegations this way. Any business owner that personally responds to an issue in a public forum seems to have more credibility in my book. He could have just as easily ignored the issue.

No legetimate business owner wants their business name to be dragged though the mud.

I have a small powder coating business and would defend it to the end...

You are always going to have the occasional customer that cannot be pleased 100%. Just a fact of life.

I really hope they do come through, I didnt post this to drag them through the mud. I just wanted to know if anyone else had encountered any problems with them. The problem is that I did not get a response from him or his company until I posted this. I went through every avenue on his website to reach his company and when I did call. I was given the runaround and kept getting sent to an answering machine even when I asked to talk to a manager on duty. I know people get busy. I work in an engineering firm, I know first hand that things get neglected. But after 5 attempts to reach someone...that becomes uncalled for. I was just asking for the status of what I ordered. Monday will be two weeks since I ordered. I have never encountered these type of problems from Newegg, or even any of the Mustang places that I order parts from. I am giving Surplus every opprtunity to follow through. And I do appreciate him contacting me on here, when his employees would not even respond.

No problems in the past here either. And it looks like Mike is stepping up to the plate on this one (i salute you for that). How did you find this thread? You have employees neffing at work too that tipped you off :D

But for the folks saying NewEgg/ZZF is the way to go... on many items yes. But good luck getting a 1 GHz Duron or a Slot A motherboard from either one. Surplus serves their role very well. If your into deals get on their mailing list too. It is NOT spam. And they will send you offer codes all the time for free/discounted shipping, free items with purchase, etc.

And I live in NW Ohio and am not affiliated with these guys in any way. I just need older parts a lot and these guys are always there for me.

I've never had a single issue with them and I've bought many things over the last year or so. Great Deals, great everything actually. I've even called them on getting a monitor and they were really helpful. Ended up buying somewhere else but still good customer service. Sorry to hear that they're going down hill

Unfortunately our company is run by humans and humans make mistakes. We are not Amazon and have an unlimited supprt staff.. I wish we did but we try our very best. When something does go arry we will ALWAYS do our best to resolve it to the customers satisfaction. I will be in the office within the next 30 minutes and will have the issue resolved before 12PM Pacific Time. Again, I apologize to Fireball77 for all the inconvience he has gone through. I also would like to thank all who came out and voiced their support and experience with us.

BTW, we found out about this thread because one of our good customers told us about it. :)

Thanks,

Mike Mak

Chris,

I was just informed your order was shipped out a few days after we received your order. We have tried to track the order and it is obvious you have not received it yet. We will resend you another keyboard free of charge 2nd day air. It appears UPS has lost your package :(

Sincerely,

Mike Mak

I have. they have HORRIBLE service. I emailed 2 times to check on the status of my order. Because they took so long, i wasn't sure if they would actually send my product or not. I bought the product $10 higher at CompUSA. I called to cancel, with no response from the answering machine. I emailed them again to confirm the cancel, but the next day (11 days after the order), it was sent. I'm NEVER buying from them again, it was a huge mistake.

Agreed. I've been toying with ordering from them & the fact that the owner dropped by is a huge plus....
