Ever heard of the KISS Principle?

That wondrous component may be stuck on, off, or not sending a signal to the Engine Control Unit one way or the other. Since the part isn't available through AutoZone, or NAPA, you'll get to pay a nice premium for it at the dealer. God knows what you'll have to go through to install it!
 
Goto the dealer and ask to look at a service manual. IMHO they should let you. Then you can get an idea of what's wrong.
 
side note: does the antifreeze/coolant just disappear? (In my '93 Sentra, i NEVER filled it in the 225k miles i drove it. and i only did a radiator flush once at 125k miles.)

My car somehow loses roughly 12oz of coolant every month, and no there aren't any blown gaskets or a bad cap. It passed smog easy and still runs.
