Update Display Driver?

Hi Folks - A friend hooked up a new 22" Acer Monitor for me and it seems to be working OK. In looking at TweakGuide's Catalyst Guide I noticed it recommended making sure to use the most updated driver for your Monitor. I have no idea if he updated the driver or just plugged it in.

Is there a way to check?

I downloaded the most recent driver from the Acer website - if I am using an old or just windows driver, how do I install the new one?

EDIT - it is working now, the driver currently used is "Plug and Play Monitor"
 
It is just "Plug and Play Monitor" - I think I've figured out how to use the Acer driver, is there a good reason to use it over what is working now?
 
The Acer driver will probably have more specific information on display resolutions and refresh rates it usually better to use it.
