And there's this kid in another club that's pissing me off - and we have a little history, so let me elaborate:I've promoted on a slower rate than most anyone else in the dojo (2~3x), so when I transferred over to this club from my last one, the aforementioned kid (let's call him "F", because I don't remember his name) wasn't even in there - now he's surpassed my level, which I have no problem with. And our HQ hosts a couple of large-scale tournaments and I've seen his face and competed against him a few times and I know that he's a cocky SOB.But last year, in our annual inner-school tournament, my friend Josh went up against "F" - and won. Now he started bawling and screaming that the judges' decision was BS, and throws around a chair for good measure. Now, since this was an inner-school tournament, every instructor knew each other, and "F"'s instructor had to pull him to a corner and talk to him in front of everyone and even the head master - BIG loss of face.Fast forward to last month - I was up for promotion, and one of the requirements was that we go and face against upper level black belts in sparring - I pride myself as being competant, so I don't get too worried - and I get to go up with this stupid motherfvcker - oh joy. When the round begins, even though my instructor, who was the one leading the promotion, told us specifically to go "light to no cantact", he goes hard - I'm slightly annoyed, but I'm tired (as opposed to him, who only had to spar), so I don't care - I go through the motion and wait until the round ends. The round ends, so I put my guard down - but that idiot continues on while everyone is standing still! He gets pulled off to the side and gets reprimended for his conduct while I have to go on with promotion.Later I find out that he walked over to the head master and tried to convince him that it was MY fault (this is what pisses me off) even though the head master was watching the promotion himself. After the promotion, that fvcker walks over to me and tries to make smalltalk. I'm tired and since this is just a promotion, I don't want to make a scene and make my instructor lose face, so I make a little small talk and politely ignore him. Now, in three weeks, there's an inner school tournament coming up, and I'm itching to kick his little skinny ass - he wants full contact? Fine - my original school was full-contact based and I have no problems with that . . . but as much as I want to break every single piece of bone in his pitiful little body, I know that as an instructor to my kids, I really shouldn't do that in addition to dirtying my instrutor's name . . . what should I do?

roundhouse to the solar plexus me thinks.

The breaking his face is a given. How you break his face is what you should be thinking about. To me personally, nothing says a big f*ck you like breaking his nose with a head butt at the start of the fight. :D

Also, if you feel the need, bring up F's past history as far as actions and reprimands. Obviously, the instructors know there is a problem with F, as multiple disciplining's (Is that a word?) shows he is a problem. I remember our Sifu told one guy to calm down, or leave. The guy calmed down, talked to Sifu, then left for the day to cool down. Thats one thing I really liked about our Sifu, he was very open and didnt take ANY crap.
Anyways, just let your instructor know how you feel and what has happened, then go fight him clean and fair. If the instructor has forewarning about how you feel, he'll be more alert for any crap F might try. Remember, honor above all else my friend.

What kind of martial arts are you taking?

It'd be funny if you take a different type of martial arts from the one you are taking now and whip that out against him. He'd have no defense.

I say you should definitely break his face, at the very least, or as someone else suggested "Put him in a body bag, Johnny".

P.S. are you from the Cobra Kai Dojo?

Funny you should mention Cobra Kai Dojo.............. I was driving around town & I noticed that there actually was a Cobra Kai Dojo :Q :D

Well, I know for a fact that he's younger than me . . . maybe a senior in high school? No, he's been in the adult division for a while now - I'd say he's at least 18 . . ..

And for the record, yes - I'm learning another style at this point, Wing Tsun Kuen Kung Fu, and have experience in Judo and Muay Thai, but honestly, I can't imgine using those styles if I want to adhere to the rules/not seriously injure him . . .. And no, as much as it sounds odd, I don't want to seriously injure him - I can't pay for his bills and I hate violence (ironic, I know . . ..:p)

Yeah, I'm probably not thinking that I'm going to break his face (as much as even the slightest thought of it brings joy into my cold, vindictive heart, I know I shouldn't . . ..) - unless, of course, he pulls some other sh!t on the day of the tournament, which is a very distinct possibility.

But what I'm really hoping is that he goes up against Josh (my friend) again and lose so I'll get the satisfaction without doing any of the work.:D

I got first in forms, breaking and SPARRING. And his instructor came over to me and complimented my integrity on keeping things at a mature level where I could have easily made my opponents look foolish and play wround with them a bit (like I did last time - I giggle uncontrollably when I fight - it's weird, I know).

Good job by you for taking the high road. He'll get his though. He'll piss off someone without as much patience. Hopefully they'll video tape it for you ;)

Thanks. I was confused what style of martial arts I had been taking for the past year and a half. And here I though it was Tae Kwon Do!! Those dirty liars....

Actually, we're Shaolin Kung Fu to be precise.

No, not really. I dunno. I grew out of the Hateful/Vindictive crap for that kid. I was angry then, but either because I was tired (I went to seelp at 2 the night before, woke up 6 and left for the school at 6:30 and arrived at 10:30) or had matured(not bloody likely), it didn't matter that much.

And Shockwave - how's Shaolin Gung Fu going? I'm learning Wing Tsun Kuen Gung Fu myself (in addition to the other style)!:D

Wow, chair throwing for good measure, sounds like a Bobby Knight.

But anyways, give him a swift kick in the bawls.
