alright... so i'm posting more than I should before going to bed...

but whoever decides who gets elite status... should really consider Scottmac (and n0cmonkey too) for elite status...

the help ScottMac has provided has been really invaluable... it's like having our resident ATF CCIE at ready disposal. personally, I've seen this guy help alot more than any other elite member i've encountered...

and the biggest thing is that he is so not obnoxious... he never puts you down when he puts you in place...

anyways... for the powers that be... please look into this...

I agree about ScottMac, but this should probably be in forum issues (no clue really). Im too much of an a-hole for elite ;)

<< Just out of curiosity how are the rankings handled? >>

As far as I know the mods choose who should be elite. Sometimes they listen to us common folk, sometimes they dont.

I agree with nominating ScottMac and n0c for elite too... Most AT visitors don't visit the networking or OS forums so most people don't see the effort these guys put in to make this a great forum.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it.

I'd settle for subscriber access (I haven't subscribed) since all but one or two posts were answering questions from someone else.

I'd vote for n0cmonkey. He's got sh*tloads more posts, virtually all of 'em I've seen were helping someone with a problem.

Maybe we need a new class of Member....unpaid subscriber-like access, it would be a good thing, IMHO.

Whatever....

FWIW, thanks again.

Scott

ScottMac, you must have missed the 5700 posts I had flaming "How do I get around my company's firewall" and "NTFS vs Fat32" posts. ;)

I like the fact that you can lure n0c into your thread by putting BSD in the thread title :). It will guarantee a response from him within 5 minutes :p

If it wasn't for ScottMac I would have never learned about structured cabling nor would I have this kickass in wall home network :)

The following is a Clip & Paste from AnandTech's Forums FAQ. (the hilight is mine)

"Information about the number of posts associated with member status can be found in the "Help" section. In addition to the status that occurs automatically based on post count, you will find another called "Elite". In this case, it is not based on number of posts but rather is granted by the forum Administrators based on input from the forum Moderators.

Elite members are those who have been supportive of the forums, and positively contributed in a variety of ways, whether it is being helpul answering hardware questions, tracking down trolls in For Sale/Trade or just simply bringing a few smiles to other members in Off Topic."

==============================================

I don't know why, but I thought they are waiting to reach the 1000 posts point.

If the above is the case I think it is long time due.

I lurk in this forum just to see what spidey, scottmac, garrion, and the rest talk about next. It makes me feel like a moron most of the time, but once in a while I understand enough to learn something :p

here, here.

ScottMac for elite. He still amazes me that he'll spend an entire page talking structured cabling. (ps scott - that means compile your posts into a "how to" or "what is" like JackMDS as done and just slap your links when needed.

nOcmonkey an a$$? I thought that was my job. :):)

I`m agree, ScottMac spends a HUGE amount of time in replying to help and answer questions all the time.

There is a bunch of you that make the rounds: ScottMac, Garion, spidey07, JackMDS, n0cmonkey, etc.

Without them, I would never come this forum, cause there would be a $HIT load of less knowledge and networking guru's available.

Scott's posts are usually, by far the largest and fortuneatly very informative, not just binary wastage. :)

Well done guys! And thank you!

AH, I dunno....I'm just not a "Compile & Paste Links" kinda guy (...nothing wrong with it, mind you.....).

You know, with my organizational talent (/not) I'd compile 'em and get 'em mixed up with the "nudy" places...be sending the girls a bunch of technical crap, sending AT'ers some gawd-awful unmentionable stuff....safer to just type it up (for me), and prob'ly save some embarrassing stuff to boot (the girls don't know I'm technical).

Since every customer job we do in the Lab is a custom work-up, that's the way I'm used to doing it.

I couldn't hold a candle to Jack "Obi Wan C&PL" MDS, he's got it down to the perfect science.

Whatever...if you ever see a link referencing "sheep," you'll know I tried C&PL and failed.......

Thanks again for the support.

Scott

Cr@p....I'm always late to tha parties...

SCOTTMAC FOR PREZ IN 2004!

Here are some members of his Cabinet:

Garion: Secretary of State
That bad-ass biker mug of his will keep those pesky foreigners...like Sen. Clinton...in line

spidey07: Attorney General
Janet Reno better start runnin, 'cause this patriotic mofo will have her keister on a spit...heh

JackMDS: Chief of Staff
At last, a job that could tax even the unholy organizational skillz of Jack.

And most importantly...

n0cmonkey: Press Secretary
Man...can you imagine the fireworks when some media wank asks HIM an inane question?

Of course, I hope to be appointed Ambassador to Sweden because of two little words...
:p:p:p:p:pBIKINI TEAM ;):D:p:p:p

i think that Scottmac, spidey, n0c, garion, and jackmds are some of the most contributing members to the Networking and OS forums. They are just too helpful to not get elite status. Giving them elite (or subscriber access as scottmac requested) is a very small way of showing appreciation towards these guys. since us regular members don't have control over these issues, the only way for us to show appreciation is by repeated "thank you's". So Moderators: you've got the power, and you know these guys have earned it =)
