oops, too late. :)

but my advice still stands-- take it to a tailor to get it custom fitted.

congrats on your purchase!

-----------
i'd hold out a little longer if you can and plan on spending $400-500 (or more). definitely skip jc penney and men's wearhouse-- you'll regret buying a cheap suit later. nordstom rack is a good idea, but check macy's and stores such as kenneth cole also. buying a suit takes a lot of time and requires patience. go to many different stores and try on many different labels and styles. some labels and styles will fit your body type better than others. if you're only buying one suit, buy a dark one-- it's ultimately more versatile.

my final advice, resist the temptation to buy too big-- it looks sloppy and unprofessional. a suit should fit snugly and comfortably. not tight, but definitely not loose. after you purchase plan on taking your suit to a good tailor and having it custom fitted to your body. (even if the store offers this for free, i would decline and go instead to the tailor-- it should be less than $50 and your suit will look so much better on you...)

Original price was $400 on sale at Macy's for $185.00 It's a 3-piece suit and I'll probably leave the vest at home during interviews. The color of the suit is a dark brown. You can't tell that it's brown to be honest. It has a very distinctive look which attracted me immediately. You have to see it in person.

I got wingtip black shoes to go with my suit. Very nice looking and they match up well with the full attire. The original price for the shoes were $110 and I got them for $65

With advice from the sales person, we both decided that when picking a shirt I should go with a solid color. I purchased a Calvin Kline light blue shirt. I like it. The shirt was purchased for $45 and it wasn't on sale. :(

I finally bought an Alfani belt and 2 t-shirt packs from the Gap. It cost me $30 and $24

If I add up the total= 185+65+45+30+24= $349+24 (alterations to suit)= $373 plus tax= $400 (give or take).

Thanks again all. I know there are going to be people that disagree with my choice of clothing but I like it and I guess that is what counts.

:D

Great, now what do you wear for the second interview?

You live down in Wildwood? If you were in Central/Northern Jersey, I would suggest Syms. It has unbeatable prices and a huge selection. I go there because I have long arms and most stores don't carry long-sleeves in my size. They also have an athletic cut which fits me better and leaves less space hanging around the ass. I think for an interview, a black suit is the way to go but I see you made your decision. Good luck.

Yea..thought about going to Syms for a suit as well.

mmmm..they even have a "dress to achieve" interview section on their website. I have purchased dress shirts there before years ago but never a full suit.

..and hurry up with the pic tec.

He's too busy playing in his mult-million dollar mansion in NJ to talk to you. It's surprising how much a midnight shift mall security guard can make these days. It's obvious i'm in the wrong business.

I'm pretty sure that Alfani is the Macy's store brand.

not many people can pull off a brown suit. I once turned down a really good deal on a 2 piece Ralph Lauren suit that fit well because it was brown.

I was just about to say.. aren't you that kid who lives with mommy and daddy and flaunts how his parents make a lot of money (or was it that uncle) while you work as a security guard?

LOL I'm surprised you're so cheap if you're so "rich".
