i am in the market for one of these (19 or 20) and i came across the DELL 2000FP. what do you guys think about this? i want to do everything on it oncluding gaming and i want there to bo no ghosts.

have you guys had any personal experiences or have seen a product review? i couldnt find any myself on cnet or zdnet .....

thanks!!!!

We actually got 3 of those in the "office". And they work great! nice crisp picture at 1600X1200 (using a radeon 8500 and dvi output).

And since the lcd actually got both dvi and vga input you could use it with alomost everything. I don't know how fast they are in games, but it seemed nice with a few movies I watched there. And it got a nice design 🙂

I was going to get one until I realized I could get a 22" flat-screen Trinitron for nearly a third of the price.

It's nice . . . but it's EXPENSIVE!

bump^^^

BTW, good for gaming? what specs should i look for in a LCD when considering gaming?

I haven't had experience with them, but you might want to consider getting a couple BIG TIT LCDs to go with it.

seriously dudes......any recommendations??

from what i know, dell uses trinitron for their crt's...but does anyone know what they use for their lcd's??

20" lcd is just a couple square inches smaller than a 22" monitor. the things are huge.

<--- thinking of getting 1700FP

thanks Vespasian!

though now i feel a little better, i would feel much better if friggin dell would provide some better specs on their site!! 🙁

i hope the 20%off periphs comes back soon.

tkim I noticed you are in the LA area. Every Saturday in the LA Times sports sections there are several computer ads that are aimed towards Macintosh purchasers. One of them has the Dell LCD in their ad and it says they are in stock. The name of the store is Unitek Computers. Here is the link for the ad.

I would assume that if you went to the store you could see one before you purchase.

LCD's are nice, but still a bit too pricey for the larger models (above 18"), and I still think that CRT monitors are better for gaming than LCDs.

ok..maybe i am getting a little greedy going for the 20 incher....

can anyone recommend a smaller one? preferably 18 or 19......

Check this Samsung 181T 18.1 TFT LCD review.

Pixel response time of 25ms.. not too shabby if true.. I think up to 50ms is ok for normal gaming. Priced around $1100..

Just remember that 18.1" in LCD actually means 18.1" diagonal size.. not like CRT.

I've had a Dell 2000fp since late December and I absolutely love it. The picture is fantastic, it is great with games (I've played everything from Return to Castle Wolfenstein to EverQuest on it), and for $1330 (that's what I paid back then) no LCD monitor comes close. I'm using it with a LeadTek GF3 ti500 via a DVI cable.

I'll never go back to CRTs after using this...they give me a headache now (I don't care how fast you set the refresh rate).

The 2000fp is an excellent choice. I've had one for several months now. There are definitely better panels out there, but not for the money.

The 1600sw was excellent for its day, but it's beaten quite handily (especially for gaming) but quite a few current generation LCD's.

finally!!! some peeps who actually ahve personal experience! 🙂🙂🙂

ok then.....my mind is set....now if dell would only bring back the 20% off soon!!!!!!

thanks dudes!!

ok, i've got 2 that i want to choose from....lmk what you guys think

DELL 2000fp

or

NEC LCD

they are similar in price at another place.....about a $75 difference....(nec coming out to be more)

so what do you think??
