does it work with verizon? if not then that number is 0. anyway its 18 months until i get to get a new phone anyway.hopefully there are more by then

All 4 major & even some regional carriers will be getting a version of the galaxy. But 18 months is a couple phone generations, so there will probably be a better 4.0" form factor droid by then.

The Galaxy S is being released on all of the major US networks. Verizon's version is the Samsung Fascinate, which is the only US version with a camera flash I believe.

Edit: too slow.

Olds with a smartphone, I think I'm in an alternate universe :)

(I know someone with an Incredible for sale Olds, IIRC he wants $350 for it)
$350? It's $149 on Amazon.
If I add it to my plan for two years...

this just annoys me. I don't get why Samsung isn't releasing them all with a flash and offering the keyboard/no-keyboard to all carriers.

I made a pact with myself that I'd never buy a Samsung phone again. I broke that pact with this last phone. It was a typical samsung piece of shit. Not even considering a Galaxy.

Fascinate? god phone names a getting dumb

thanks for the info

they're dumb because of the idiotic consumers of the US. They NEED a damn name. Like LG enV, Samsung Moment..etc.

HTC phone names are fine. HTC Hero, HTC Legend, HTC Desire. That's what it was supposed to be. Unfortunately companies like AT&T and Verizon need special branded phones with a special design.

Well Firstly, Fuck AT&T. I'd want to be able to actually use the phone.

Secondly, what would be the point? Could I somehow sell it for more than I paid? I doubt it.

iphones sell for more than cost. It has to do with carrier exclusivity and a limited release and the fact that the rest of the world wants an iPhone and can use GSM technology. Unfortunately I'm not sure how much the AT&T one sells for as its carrier locked. The Canadian one should go for $800 or something...

They are talking about camera flash; the version in Asia/Europe does not; verizon and spring version does. This is not to be confused with software for showing flash streams.

I'd imagine the Droid 2 (and pretty much every Moto Android phone after it) will suffer from the same restrictions.

That being said I'm getting my X first thing. I'll still have my Droid if I want to tinker.

what can you do with an unlocked boot loader? I am considering a new phone because my Black Berry Storm died. I am not really keen on the 5" phone because I work with my phone in my pocket (physical job) but at the same time I am considering either the new Droid X or the Moto Droid.

help

EDIT: when does the Motorola Droid 2 A955, come out?

Looks like the Motorola Droid 2 A955 comes out August 23 with a 1Ghz Texas Instrument processor; Droid vs. Droid 2 benches - for those who don't want a large screen. It also will be able to record in 720p as the HTC incredible will also get this in a firmware update.
