Update Aspi Layer In XP???

has anyone successfully updated their ASPI layer to the new 4.70 release from Adaptec yet?? I wanted the latest version for all of my CDR drives, but whenever I rebooted, 2 of the files were 4.7. and 2 stayed 4.6, and I kept getting the error" ASPI not installed correctly". I tried Force ASPI, and same thing. Anyone have the EXACT method, and files necessary??? Thanks 🙂

didn't see that you have any adaptec product in your sig which is probably what the software looks for before installing!
copied from adaptec:
If you are the owner of a 3rd party device that requires an ASPI layer to be installed in your operating system, Adaptec suggests that you contact your peripheral manufacturer for a product specific version of the ASPI layer. The version you are about to download is a generic version and not designed to work with every device.

if you look at the readme, you will see that only 2 files are installed for XP while there are 4 for win2k.
Microsoft Windows 2000 wnaspi32.dll, aspi32.sys,winaspi.dll, wowpost.exe
Microsoft Windows XP wnaspi32.dll, aspi32.sys (hence 2 files are not updated)
the 4.60 version in XP used the win2k files.
can only suggest you use forceaspi to dump your present ASPI layer then apply the 4.7 install!

apparently I did it right the first stinkin time 🙁 from the same readme🙂
" It is not important, for example, for wnaspi32.dll to have matching version
number with winaspi.dll. Disregard any such error message from aspichk.exe.
Also disregard any error message from aspichk.exe regarding files not present.

Every time I ran ASPIcheck, I kept getting error messages, so I kept reverting back to 4.6 .
