UPDATE:: Antec Neopower faulty? Keeps shutting off! Help!

So now I have everything separated into three rails, but the PSU is still shutting off. The whole problem started a week ago when I added another case fan (now I have 4 instead of 3). Could it be that I have a faulty Antec Neopower???

I have everything in my computer running off of one atx cable for the sake of keeping things neat. Recently, the computer would shut off and the PSU would emit a beeping pattern. My question is, will sharing my components between more atx cables solve this problem?


Reason I ask first is because I already carefully cleaned up the wires in my case.

My rig is:
Antec Neopower 480W (the modular type)
Athlon XP 2500+

Things connected to that one cable:
ATI 9800Pro
Maxtor 200GB HDD
1 DVD Burner
1 DVD-ROM
4 Case fans routed through one Fan Speed Controller

I think you better spread things out. You'll be lucky if you didn't burn up your power supply or even some of the wiring.
 
check for loose connections antec neo are good psu's and provide electrical protection when short or any other factor ....
 
A General concept of Electricity seems to be needed here.
First and foremost, you wouldn't want to ,lets say run your entire second story of your home, on 1 12 gauge wire would you? Wire gets hot. You DEFFINATELY need to split up the load to all molex connections, unless you want to fry the supply.
 
OK split the load into 3 rails:
1 for 2 opticals + HDD
1 for video card and CCFL tubes
1 for fan speed controller w/ 4 fans
 
Looking at your For Sale thread, it looks like you still have another working PSU lying around.

Swap in your old PSU and see if your system stabilizes. If it does, your Neopower is borked.
 
Yeah the thing is...I've never had problems with the Thermaltake...but I (naturally) thought a Neopower would be better.

To further analyze things....it tends to shut off when I'm doing intensive applications. For example, playing games or multi-applications.

Just want to get a few more opinions before I go switch it or RMA it. Wanna be sure...you know.
 
Your neopower probably couldn't suupply enough amperes through the one rail. I have a neopwer myself and it works flawlessy in my file server.
