Any suggestions?

Netma -

I too ordered late in June, and didn't print the rebate slip before they changed it. Fortunately, the rebate slip was not exclusive to Amazon, and therefore I was able to find it elsewhere.

Here it is for those that need it.

BTW, I do think it sucks that they couldn't just give you a link to the old form.

This is a nice router, the only problem I have found is that a number of HP printers are not compatible with the print server port due to the way HP designs some of their printers. HP 800 & 900 series (I have an HP 882C) are NOT compatible. Check here for more info:
D-Link

I am considering getting a Canon printer (S520, S600, S750). Has anyone had any experience running a Canon printer off of the print server port?

is this what I need to access the internet from another PC?, my main PC is connected with cable modem, but would like to have another PC in another room also connect to the net.

I also have a printer connected to the main PC, and I assume I will be able to use the printer from the second PC.

thanks in advance.

gychang,

all you need is a router (like this one). connect your cable modem, printer, and PC's to the DI-713P router. this way you can access your printer and the internet from any PC anytime.

I am interested in a wireless network at home, but I am concerned about security. I read that hackers can park a van near your LAN and hack into your system.

Great deal on the router! How much are the PCI wireless cards though? They seem to be selling for just as much as the router!

Price is now back to $86.96 after $30 rebate.

So total comes to $81.96 after $5 off $35 coupon code.

you may want to check out praticallynetworked.com.

11mbps is the maximum data rate, it depends on signal strength, WEP, etc.

Say I have two computers in my home, one will be near the router so I can use one of the ports on the router to connect it. For the other computer that's far away, will I need to buy additional hardware? Thanks.

ILUVDEAL, yes for any computer not connected by a direct cable to your wireless router ports you will need to buy a "wireless card" that is "compatible" with your wireless router. Either buy the same brand type wireless card or check there website for compatible cards with there system.

Gychang, from the DLink website

" Wireless Data Rate
11 Mbps & 5.5 Mbps, 2 Mbps & 1Mbps
Auto Fall-Back"

Doesn't look like you are going to get 11mbps. It's the "Air PLUS" products that give you 22Mbps

Went to Office Max to get the DWL-900AP but the sale ended, however they are closing out the DI-713P for $99.00!! Don't know if it is a local closeout or nation wide.

I bought 900AP at Office Max on Sat 8/10/02 for 59.99 Just printed out that page of the out of state flyer and showed to cashier and store manager(I think she was). She looked at it for a minute(maybe trying to read the OM product code), never said anything, and then adjusted the price. Still gonna try to PM with CC and get a $50 rebate, but that will be much tougher I expect.
