Oh yeah, when I'm done with these boards, maybe I'll let some of you fool around with them.
MEEEEE!!! :D :D :D Please, give me the Asus :D (wouldn't mind if it would be some other nForce 2 board tho :D )

I think I win for having the oldest (crappiest) computer here. Actually it's not that bad, but I'd love to have a new nforce2 board.

If you could test them up to 200Mhz FSB to let us know if they are compatible with the bartons that'd be beautiful.

Also there has been alot of controversy with respect to lockable PCI and AGP busses, some say both some say AGP only. If you could test them with a one of those PCI freq reading cards and finally let us know if they all have this feature or some do and some don't that would be helpfull to everyone

naw, I think my Celeron 366 beats em all :D
As I'm thinking about setting up a new AMD system, I could really need board :) Could test it with 400 MHz FSB :) (unlock Athlon XP, set down multiplicator, get some GeIL RAM (wanted to get that anyway) and test if it works).

Not by a longshot pal. I'm still running a BH6 with a Celeron 300A. And still doing work on the 266MHz G3 I bought the year before that.

Gee Evan, while you are at it could you tell me if I should buy my tires at Les Schwab or at Costco? just kidding. You have got your hands full dude. These are a lot of good questions but how you could fit them in one review I will never know. I hope they pay you well.

Oh, one more thing. Instead of just comparing performance to the current boards out there, how about comparing to the last several generations of motherboards? Most people aren't upgrading from a KT400 to an NForce2. For example, I have an Epox 8k7a, using the AMD761 chipset, and would like to know what sort of benefit I'd get from moving to a more modern platform.

I've been considering an upgrade from a pentium (not AMD) 66. Would nForce2 be a good choice?

Not really. The way they engineer chips these days sacrifices efficiency for clock speed. So really, since your old P66 is a more efficient design it will run the everyday apps just fine if not better.

Okay. I'm kidding. Yes, if the nForce 1 was any indication the nForce2 should be a nice system for you.

Agreed. I actually mentioned this to Evan in a PM not too long ago.

And if shuttle has a nforce2 miniPC out yet (I think they do, don't they?) .. that would be a nice addition :)

pah... my computer can't even read the temps! I could really really need an upgrade :D Oh... and I'm running a P133 on a half damaged QDI VX board!

Actually I don't count 3DMark2001 as something neccessary in the benching progress... but what about some Doom III? Oh, and the board's Folding@Home speeds would be interesting ;)

six way now! :Q wow. did MSI get tossed in the bunch now? How far along are you with the 5 that you have already? any updated timetable? I'm looking at picking up that Epox but there are still some questions that needs to be filled i.e. whats the deal with soundstorm [ codec wise, are we going to have to install stuff? why does epox look a little bit blander compared to the asus descriptions, are they the same codec] and how does it perform dualDDR wise :) keep up the AMAZING work dude.

Yeah I must say I'm *REALLY* looking forward to this review ASAP - an ETA would be really nice!

You have 2 hours before I go home from work and don't have a browser.
Plus I'm 12 hours ahead of you, so even if you do it Monday morning, it's Monday night for me - so if you could wrap that up in the next 15 minutes that'd be great.

While you're at it, if you could just go ahead and ....... move your desk into the store room that'd be great - k?

However, I'm also just looking forward to the review. It sounds like a good one. ;)

I am running RH 8.0 on the A7N8X Deluxe. I haven't attempted anything with serial ATA and have been unable to get Linux to see the embedded 3com NIC. Otherwise, everything appears to work. nVidia posted updated Linux drivers on their website on 11.26.02.

I thought I remember reading that they wouldn't work on the Asus board.

Sign me up for one of those left over boards! :D
Thanks.

They do work on the Asus, but you do have to do it manually.

An AX-7 will fit without touching any caps on the A7N8X. There is about 1/16th of an inch clearance on the side of the socket closest to the northbridge.

Where the hell are the reviews? Aren't they overdue? No estimated time given either?
If you are gonna post that you will be doing something...DO IT...otherwise have some balls to mention that there will be a delay.

Sheesh I am growing old waiting for the reviews - thank god I already purchased the A7N8X. I have learnt a long time ago that NEVER base a buy decision on a review(s) - just go for it. The review next week might just be dead news since next week is after all next week with more toys coming out.
I :p my A7N8X and Tbred 1700+ at 1860.
