Thanks for the info. I still don't really understand the significance of the G04 designation but I'm glad I've got 'em. (Mo' betta I guess?) Good to know that Newegg is selling the good stuff because that's where I ordered my first 50 DVD-R's from and they came in the red and white Ridata wrap with no spindle and no labeling on the disc except for "Ridata" on the inside clear part near the hole. As I said, no sweat "backing up" DVD movies onto these babies with my NEC burner. Every one has played in multiple DVD players, including my picky Sony machine.

Now can someone point out what G04 means???

For those of you that live in CA or TN which means we pay tax, it's cheaper to buy these from Amazon. Same free shipping and no sales tax.

I rather pay 80 cents more and get it sooner. Newegg ships their product much faster than Amazon.

May I assume that this is a 50-disc spindle? Perhaps I'm blind but the only thing that would lead be to believe that is the pic (which looks about the size of a 50-disc spindle) and the number 50 in the product name.

My last batch of G04 (from Meritline) really sucked. I could only burn them at 2X if I wanted flawless backups of my movies. It was weird because they came in 2 25 pack spindles and the results varied by spindle. The first one was great and the second one completely sucked.

But hey, for $34 I have no problem giving these a try again. Thanks for the Amazon link.

I have bought these several times from the Egg. They burn at 6x in my NEC 2500a with Herries 1.07 firmware. They are flawless, no imperfections.

Purchased 2 of the 50 piece Ridata on Wed of last week for 31.99 ea (free shipping, but had to pay sales tax, live in CA) from NewEgg.
These are the ones that come on a spindle and have a purple label on the outside. The tops of the discs do have some sort of Ridata logo on them. I think they are the matte finish.
I recorded with them and they worked fine and also tested them with the Nero media tool
and they were identified as G04.

The ones I use to buy from NewEgg were these 50 pak ones that came on no spindle and had this red wrapper on the outside. They also were identified with Nero as G04. These were the matte finish with no markings at all on the discs.

Besides the packaging and disc labeling, I'm not sure what the difference is. All I know is that they both seem to burn fine.

Under the spec's it says: "Conformity: Recordable Disc Version 2.0" Like what is that? How's it different from version 1.0?

$30.00 for this is HOT.

Don't know if I should pick up another spindle. Still have like 40 left from the Mother's Day special. :)

I've used 50pk +R. It burns at 8x on my Benq DW800A no problem. Zero coasters and zero problem. I ordered another pack and received it yesterday.

Hi all,

Just wondering what is the difference between these and the ones that come in the red wrapper without the spindle. Those say Ridata on the inside of the hub. Are those considered Grade A??? Wonder if these are the same.

Help shed some light on this.
Thx
