sweet, i was looking at the LVD-2001, but this seems nice too. Does't look like it does the '480i scalable to 480p & 1080i' upscaling that the LVD-2001 did though. Oh well.

May be a typo but doubt it on the Lite-On specs page,On that note is there a diffrence from 480i to 480p verses 1080i ..?
Were and when would I need 1080i

Buy the way the LVD-2001 has been discontinued and may not have Firmware updates in the Futor..! So think abought that..!

I thought about that,but I thought more people could use the Tool Kit over the Keyboard.You are right for the best price though..!
 
You can adjust contrast, brightness, and saturation. At stock level, it is a little too bright. The black looks grayish, but easily adjusted. It still doesn't handle divx3 very well though. It skips and I haven't seen any new firmware for it to solve this problem. Divx4, divx5, and xvid all plays excellently. This is the best thing ever! I can finally watch my divx on the big screen!

I got an email from Dartek. The keyboard is sold out and will not be replaced. So, you will need to order the Tool kit instead to get free shipping.

CherryBOMB, 1080i will be useful if you have a HD set. The LVD-2002 does have the secret menu to make it region free and disable macrovision; however, it doesn't support 1080i or 720p like the older model. I believe it does support 480p.

You would want the 1080i upconversion if you had an HDTV or projector. The scaling from 480 to a 1080i image looks much better. (Depends on your display though.)
Just look through AVS forum.
It's a shame that they took that feature out. The higher ups have approved a 1080i standard though and quiet a few other manufacturers will be doing this. Samsung already has one, but it's over a DVI connection only. That's why the Lite-On 2001 was so popular because it was the only one that could do it over component cables and was region free. (Unless you ordered from overseas.)

I think this player should be sold for a lot less. The 2001 model had a card reader built in, 1080i upconversion, and it was selling for the same price.



 
I remember when this place posted HOT deals, not every $100 item that was $10 off...

Tho I suppose it was a good deal when he posted it.
 
Does it recognised and play divx and xvid files on dvdr discs? I have heard a coule of the other dvd/divx players on the market do not. Also does anyone know if someone makes a vhs/dvd/divx player?
