Insightbb is in the process (this week) of upping your speeds to 4MBps down and 256kbps up. Required a reboot of the modem to get the speeds.

Hot for Insightbb users...and FREE too (if you're a customer already)! :)

Here you go!

P.S. I know this works as I rebooted my modem about an hour ago and speeds shot up about 30%. Downloading at about 470KB/sec from

ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64

Man... I don't know what the heck is going on. I installed SP2 for Windows XP a couple of days ago and my speeds have gone WAY down. I'm only able to download 40 kb/s.

Has anyone had similar results? Is something off as far as settings go? I turned off the Firewall completely... thinking that that might have had something to do with it.

Oh... and I'm on insightbb and I reset my modem but that didn't help anything out.

Has anyone in Lafayette, IN gotten the increase?

awesome! nothing to report here yet on the boost. I'll be sure to report back in.

well, something definately happened.

just did a dsl speed report test and I got ~ 2600 / 120
I just reset my modem and I got 3268 / 240

My download is usually around that 3268 so I'm not sure wy it was 2600, but that's definately the fastest my upload speed has been.

I'll take it!

I just reset my modem and my download speed hasn't increased, but my upload is now 256kbps. Thanks for the update.

Reading up at Broadband reports, seems that Insightbb might be upgrading some in upload or download only and, at a later time in the day, upgrading the other. Strange, but that does appear to be a pattern.

3,640 down, 239 up.

Using the Optimum Online test (64 Megabyte file), I get a steady 470KBytes per seconds (almost half a megabyte per second...not bad)! :)

I live in Richmond, right down I-75 from you Engineer, and I just got a mailer in yesterday from Adelphia. They have upped speeds to 4Mbps/512Kbps, albeit for a fee though. I previously was with Adelphia, but switched to DirecTV for my cable needs, and subsequently switched to Bellsouth DSL for an approximate $10-$15 savings on my entire bills for the month.

I just now saw this thread. I live in Lafayette but I haven't paid much attention to upload speeds. I'll look at it tonight when I get home.

That's pretty nice speeds for Adelphia. What was the monthly cost? (drools for 512kb upload! :p)

I never seem to get these kind of speeds. Do you have to have the higher u/d subscription? Mine has always been 300d/15up on insightbb. I haven't tested it lately though, anyone have a good site to test speeds?

gonna have to try this in a few...

Anyone else have problems with InsightBB at night? My connection slows to a damned crawl during the peak hours of use... It's awful - and for $45/month I'd expect much better.

Just tried it - same awful upload. Man I hate Insight - worst ISP I've ever had.

I just did a test myself at dslreports.com. I came up with 3242/239. That's not far off from what they're claiming. I'm perfectly happy with it. It's better than my old DSL was.

Speed on the up side bumped to 384Kb up now. Also, the Plus package seems to be 5Mb down/ 512Kb up. (Possibly 6MB down, not sure yet)

Edit: 6Mb up with 512Kb down confirmed for the Plus users. :)
