I'm with the rest reccomending lawyers and all possible legitimate legal avenues. This situation is honestly awful, but it's not the first time I've heard it. Fraud at it's worst...

hope everything works out...

If your grandpa was not mentally compentent when he signed everything away (IF he even did), then a good atty should be able to help you out. Lawyer up pronto!

I just found out that he asked his neighbor if he could move in with her. The neighbors husband dies a few months ago and she now lives all by her self, but they have been friends for ever. I just couldn't imgaine him moving in with his neighbor only to see his house sold a few weeks later and know all he can do is just sit there and watch it sell.

Originally he was going to move into my parents house but they really have no room and there is never anyone home and he would be a state away from where he has lived his whole life. Then he mentiond the neighbor and said he wants to stay in Michigan so he can be by his friends.

You can't imgaine how irate I am right now.....A few weeks ago my sisters 1982 malibu with 34,000 miles on it was vandalized by her ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend. They smashed in or scratched every panel on the whole car. There were three witnesses and they left their footprints all over the car yet they still pleaded not gulty in juvenile court the other day. This car was so new that it still had stickers from the factory on it on a lot of the parts under the car, like on the suspension, etc.

We got it for a steal at $3,000, yet the damage they did was quoted at $5,300-$5,700 to fix at a few different body shops. Off course we are either going to get screwed by our insurance company or by these vandals getting out of the charges somehow. Even if they are found guilty it is only juvenile court and the max they each would have to pay back is $600? WTF?

I
......then I find this crap out about my grandpa....It has not been a good month.........

Try shopping for more attorneys, find out the date he signed the titles over too. If they corresponded to the he was in the hospital I would think it would be very possible to get them back in his name.

Busie23 -- There is no free or easy way through this, but your granddad needs an attorney from his own state, and he needs one, NOW! Don't waste any time. Find legal help first thing Monday morning.

Wishing you and your granddad the best.

Wow, I really feel sorry for your grandfather. I have no idea how some people can scam their immediate family.

My grandfather is probably one of the only people I truly respect...

My wife said she sees this type of situation a lot. You need to get a lawyer and show misappropriation of your grandfather's assets. If it can be proven that she was stealing his money or decieving him, he might be able to recover some of it.

And he said, because of Michigan laws, most likely nothing would be collected. Apparently if a husband dies then the wife is entitled to what ever is left, but if the wife dies the husband gets nothing

I have read a lot of crap over the time I have been here and this is probably the biggest LIE that has ever been told here. That is not the law, you have internet look up the law yourself.
If you really cared you would have got some legal advice by now from a good atty and not some bunch of dipwads that you are talking to. In fact Michigan has special laws that just pertain to this kind of thing.

Bleep

The Statute of Frauds (common law) holds that there are a number of transactions that require a signature... transfer of real property is one of them... assumption of debt... and similar type issues.. look in the county recorders files for the title xfer.. Some torts have a civil and a criminal component to them.. go to the DA and have him look into how it is that the step son acquired $ and property... could be fraud... could be the step son owes gramps etc.. could be grandma defrauded gramps... a conspiracy ... lots of possible issues...
BUT... there exists many free resource centers when the elderly have been taken for a ride... call the media and get them involved... Do not threaten anyone... this is illegal... find out facts and let them fall where they may.. then see if there are any Pro Bono resource centers available..

Bon Chance!... Good Luck!..
