Greetings!

I did a search to see if anyone (like tboo) has already posted next weeks ad for OfficeMax (Omax) and I did not find any previous posts. Forgive me if this is a repost.

Edit: The scans (pictures) are now online at iDealWiz. Enjoy

---
HP PSC-500 3-in-1 Machine $249.99 ($299.99 - $50IR)
I think this item is being phased out. Be careful, the quality and speed are nice on this machine, but it uses the "small" #15 Black ink cartridge. Also, the console does not do a lot of "advanced" copy functions, you need to use the PC for a lot of it. The G55 is better at those things.
SKU:0223-4406
---
The HP 932C and 952C are still $150 and $200 respectively. I think that this will be the ongoing price for these printers (i.e. HP mandated price drop)

Notes:
1. I am not responsible for typos. Forgive me if I made any.
2. I apoligize ahead of time if this post is hard to read, I tried to condense as best as possible.
3. Abbreviations used: "IR" = Instant Rebate, "MIR" = Mail-In Rebate
4. I do not usually read "PM"'s, so forgive me if I am slow to reply, I recommend you just reply in the thread.
5. There were a few other items on sale, I mostly focused on electronics and furniture.
6. Edit: The scans are now online.
7. Constructive criticism is allowed.
8. The 8 digit #'s listed (i.e. 1234-5678) is the SKU #, this is what Omax employees can type into their system, to check stock, prices, etc...

Enjoy,

Looks like they bring back the HP9350i but for $129.99 instead of $99.99. Still a pretty good bargain.

<< is prime peripherals a good cd rom company? >>

I have not dealt with this company/brand directly or anything, so I cannot give you a perfect answer. Prime Peripherals is the same as "Okie" if that helps you any.
I do not know if they manufacture their own products or contract them out (I know they get their blank CDs from CMC Magnetics Corp).
I would imagine their products are average and would probably work just fine for most uses. I do not have any guarantees one way or the other though.

Hope that helps,

Last round, the CD wallets were cheaper. OM was selling the 128 CD holder for $9.99 ($14.99-$5MIR). They ran out of the holders so I had to buy it from Staples and PM their ad. I couldn't find the rebate though.

Does anyone know if the rebates for the wallets are only good for purchases made at OM?

Yes, the prices do fluctuate a bit, and I know that the stores in my town had low quantities available when the ad broke last time. The rebate should be a normal manufacturer's rebate. I would recommend going in to OfficeMax and grabbing one of their rebate catalogs and read the fine print and/or look for a phone number.

CEO:
This ad will go into effect the 11th (this coming up Sunday). There is NO ad for the 4th. This will probably be a "rest" week for Omax. They have had 4 straight ads (at least) and probably want to catch up on inventory. The CD-ROM drives will probably go quickly.

HKSturboKID:
The drive will probably not even be in stock. I know the stores in my town each have 2 dozen drives coming towards them, but they are ALL for people on the raincheck list. I do not forsee any stores having a high quantity in stock. The deal is still a good one though.

P.S. Everyone, I have now scanned the ad in its entirety. I am currently shrinking the size and converting to JPG (but the filesizes are still geared towards people with high bandwidth). I will be looking into getting it onto some webspace soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

Prime Peripherals just markets stuff, like Hi-Val does. Last time I bought the CDROM it was an excellent (!) Afreey. I was very impressed with the build quality and it was Clonecd compatible. Definitely a hot deal for $0!

Update on the Images:

I have converted all of the images to JPG now. Each image is roughly 100k (so about <1 minute to download on a 28.8k modem). I can live with that filesize. The drawback is that the SKU's are no longer readable when shrunken. All of the pictures, descriptions, and prices are pretty well easy to read. The fineprint (SKU, rebate terms, etc...) are fuzzy now though. I will post again once I secure some webspace for the images. If anyone knows of a good free webhost, lemme know. I saw someone in a thread earlier that had a photo hosting URL (like www.photohome.com or something like that).

Hope that helps,
ChunkyBarf

Wow...thanks for all the typing! That must've taken you awhile.

Definitely have to check out that free CDROM. I need something that'll keep up with my 12x burner for CD to CD copies. My old 5x DVDROM cant do 12x! :Q

oLLie:
I am sure that once the 11th hits, the items in the ad will appear at the sale price on the website.

JayR:
I know that OMax had the Prime Peripheral 200-pack of CDs on their website 2 weeks ago when they were free after Mail-In Rebate. I do not see why they would not carry other products. You may want to search for "Okie" as well, cuz that is an alternate name for Prime Peripherals.

I just looked under the modems and cd-rom sections and did not see either of the two items that are free after rebate.

I really find the OfficeMax website to be a pile of crap truthfully. The search tool is horrendous and it now appears as if the selection is sub-par as well. I cannot wait for the day when the organization of the site is improved.

You can always call in to the call center (1-877-OFFICEMAX I think) and give them the 8-digit SKU manually.

Hope that helps,
ChunkyBarf

I have bought 2 Prime Peripherals drives,

A 50x CDROM, and a 10x DVD. Both times they were Afreey drives inside, as PP doesnt really make anything. They are good drives, and even better for the price.

I went to OfficeMax in Miami, Florida. I bought the ScanJet 2100C. They gave me the rebate form but Instant Rebate I have to go back for price adjustment. Anyone that might be interested I suggest you go now since they had limited quantities at the location I went to, don't know if its the same around the country.

There are still Proview 19" monitor in some store even if their stock saids only display model left. Just found a Brand new, in the BOX monitor for $130.00. The dude at the front desk was shocked that I found it on the rack and at that price, after telling me they had none.

The Prime Peripherals 50x drive is an Afreey 2050E. I recently got one for free through CompUSA. It is a great drive when it is compatible with your motherboard I think. When it works with your motherboard I would say that the DAE is a bit slower than then the Plextor UltraPlex 40x, however it is just as accurate. As for Data Transfer it blows the Plextor 40x away. However I have two computer systems both running WinME. One has a Abit BH6 motherboard and the other is a Biostar Motherboard. On my Abit system I was getting low DAE ripping numbers like 7-8x and datat transfers of 20x and high CPU use. I have turned on the DMA setting in WinME and it did not help the drive at all. However on my Biostar Motherboard I was initially getting bad numbers like the Abit system. I then remembered to turn on DMA on this Biostar computer system. I ran the tests for DAE, transfer rates, and CPU utilization. I got 24x for DAE and 49x for transfer rate and cpu use was low. This drive is fast enough to keep up with 12x burners if it works on your motherboard.
I still do not know why the Abit Motherboard sucks when I hook up the drive to it. Are there any new IDE drivers for the Abit motherboard. It seems as if the Abit's motherboard doesn't really turn on the DMA even if it is clicked on in Windows. Anyone have any suggestions.
So my advice it is a great drive if your motherboard supports it.
