Not really, the shield just has really vibrant paint in an otherwise dull setting.
At least they painted in streaks and scratches, though if the paint looked a little more weathered it would definitely benefit the sense of age. Then again, no idea how old that shield is supposed to be in the story.

Read a little on this before, and for the movie his original WW2 shield gets damaged in fight with the Red Skull and the hydra agents and Tony Stark's father creates him the round shield out of some special material I can't seem to remember right now.

in the comics its made with verbanium (or something like that) it makes it very strong and light.
