Upcoming Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack Priced at $15

Its the fact that most of you guys are even willing to pay $15 even though you disagree so they know they can charge you for less.

Im willing to bet someone on the PC will find a way to get it for free since more than half of the PC community already hacks the game.

Even though I'm going to buy it, I really wish there was a way I could send a heartfelt "fuck you" to activision along with my microsoft points.

My suggestion. Sell it/trade it in and get BFBC2.

Pretty sad that Activision has made EA games preferable.

Eh, theyre hardly comparable, other than the fact that both feature modern combat.

One is like arena warfare, the other is like long range objective based. It's like comparing basketball to golf.

Yeah I agree, they aren't comparable at all. BFBC2 is a entirely different experience, although one I much prefer. Probably the fact that I've been playing Battlefield games forever and it just feels right.

In one, 90% of the time, you saw the person that killed you, and you had a fair shot at him. In the other, 90% of the time you get killed by a sniper across the map, or from someone who spawned behind you.

Sounds like you haven't really played BC2 if that's your impression. In fact, MW2 is far worse about getting shot from an area you just cleared than BC2 is.

The sniping "problem" you describe is equally present in both games, and if you're getting shot by snipers "90% of the time", you're doing something very, very wrong. In BC2, snipers are only a real threat in hardcore mode.

I've been playing it a ton, not to mention every other BF game since the start on PC. That's my impression...if it's not a sniper, it's something else, but I rarely feel like I'm getting in good firefights in BF games. It's so wide open and unfocused, I'm always getting shot from behind or super far away, and something about the way it generally feels has never felt right to me.

Despite it's jankyness, there's still something I find endearing about the series. I like it despite itself, but I don't need to make that qualification for CoD games. But I still think they're so fundamentally different they're basically a different genre, comparing apples to oranges.

I'm trying to figure out where you're quoting that 90% line from. As far as I can tell it doesn't appear in this thread, and BD2003 hasn't edited his post. :hmm:

I edited my post because it wasn't very clear what I meant and I didn't have the chance to write what I really meant before I had to leave for work, but apparently it came back from the ether.

Sorry, wasn't intentional; I hit "quote" and then left it up for awhile while I made coffee, had breakfast. etc. I didn't realize it had been edited.

While I don't agree that BC2 is unfocused, I certainly agree that they're very different games. The common ground between them (they are both FPS's, after all), leaves room for comparison. I was a COD4 addict through and through. I absolutely could not be separated from that game. MW2 drives me out of my mind though. The number of cheap kills is just too much to stomach. BC2 definitely has its quirks, but browser issues aside, it never actually pisses me off.

To each his own though. I didn't intend to derail the thread into a BC2 v MW2 discussion, so I'll knock it off 🙂

You're aware that this forum software doesn't put a 'last edited by:' tag on posts that were edited right? When you edit you can tick a check box or something to show you edited it, but it's off by default. We can edit to our hearts content and it'll never show that we did anything.

I guess I had this forum confused with a different one.

I also thought I had read BD2003's post without the 90% line before it was quoted with the 90% line... meh.

Edit: Oh I see now, it was quoted long before the reply was actually posted.

That's not entirely true. If you edit immediately after you post, it won't put an edit tag.

If you wait a minute or two to edit, it will put the edit tag, at least that's what's always happened to me.

Are you sure? I'm going to edit my post to double check.

edit: I think you're right. I guess I've always edited my posts soon afterwards so I figured it just didn't show it.

They have a monopoly on MW2 map packs, and so they're pricing at the monopoly price point, and people will still buy it up. Simple fact: Map Pack prices will only go up, or you will get less. There exists no incentive to change anything when their margins are so big. I wouldn't. Fact is, if it's not worth $15 you wouldn't buy it, but really it is to most people, partially because it becomes a pain to even join a group and play so it degrades your product. "Pay $15 or you can't continue to play like before even."

Point is: Any company that doesn't decide to maximize revenue is just being charitable toward you. They might have lower prices or offer more just to gain good PR. BC2 is certainly doing so, but you can be assured activision will shrug your whining off on the way to the bank.

This is correct. Most modern (i.e., not Fuseshite) forum software has an edit tag grace period of a couple of minutes to allow for immediate spelling corrections, etc. It's at the discretion of the admin.
