Aldi has a big sign up at my local store. A Medion 4.1 mp digital camera on sale Apr 29. My memory is:
4.1 mp Sony CCD and Ricoh lens. 3X optical zoom. 64mb CF included and bag.

Price unknown. I wonder if Sony makes it for them -- looks like a Sony S85.

Anyone know more details??
 
I have a Medion comp and it is really good for the price.
I was told that Medion is really an Acer company but, that has nothing to do with the camera info.
 
I wish Aldi would come to Florida. I used to shop at the one in Lincoln, IL all the time when I lived there.

Now that the price is known I wonder if the better choice is the kodak dx4900 at $320 or so? The Medion looks good but would it be easily resellable in 1 yr when I really want a 6mp....

Any thoughts since only 6 days before I have to decide....

thats pretty inexpensive for something with a somewhat decent amount of zoom x (though zoom is the 2nd worst thing to happen to photography, behind the electronic flash)
 
Not too sure about egaying this one. A no name camera will most likely bring less than you pay. I am still trying too figure out the camera. The ccd is the same as the Sony S85 -- which is great. The lens I can not find another camera with the same lens.

I am thinking too much risk; especially since I trade cameras every 9 months.....
 
TextAldi does a pretty good job of shopping for their big ticket items. This camera has very similar specks to my HP digital camera, but it comes with a 64 meg card instead of the 8 meg card that my camera came with. It also includes a case and an AC adapter. It looks like a pretty good deal to me.
 
I think it is a great deal, and if I had an Aldis even remotely close to me, I would be all over it. Does Aldi's have an online storefront? Can I perhaps call and order?

Why do you think this is a reference to gay people in the first place? I think this comment shows where your mind is and what condition its in. Get a life!

Have you seen references to ebay in another form? "Fleabay?" I suppose this would be insulting to dog owners if one follows your logic.

The real answer to why people take a company's name out of context is to make sure they dont say or do something that could be considered "offensive" to the particular company itself. AT frowns on posting certain links because it could put them in a legal bind. These references are not intended to insult anyone, but to steer clear of potential problems. Thats it. Nothing else.

I say egay since ebay I thought at one time was a banned word on anandtech. Not a big deal. I did not see it as a reference to any sexual preference. Gay means more than homosexual -- it also can mean happy or joyous....

Anyway I would not buy the camera to egay, ebay, or auction since it is a no-name to 95% of the population or buyers and most auction sites.....

I am still curious on the build of the camera. I can not find it anywhere else....
