Ah instead of 60 possible entries, they've narrowed it down to four. Brilliant.

Since you create your own "combination" which can be any length (one reviewer successfully created a 30 movement combo), that seems pretty secure. It comes with different series of stickers you can apply over the arrows - colors, numbers, shapes, letters - if that makes it easier for someone to remember.

Damn. The OP would have gotten my stuff.
I figure a lot of people would do that cross thingy that the God believers do across their chest.

Your ATM pin has 10,000 possible combinations. This has up to 1,152,921,504,606,847,000 assuming you can makeup to a 30 entry combo. So yeah, I'd say it's pretty secure.

Your ATM doesn't take 30 separate entries to give you your money.

Security is important, but so is speed.

Usually these locks are used for quick access, like school lockers, etc. I severely doubt anyone using one is going to be able to remember more than say, 6 directions.

Most high schoolers can barely remember which locker is theirs let alone the combination to it. I'm thinking most will use 3 or 4 move combos which makes that WAY less secure than the old left-right-left spinning dial.

just put a 4 combo code on it. nobody will get into it by guessing the combo. if they want in, a cheap pry bar can open any locker.

That's 1/4 as secure as a 3-digit tumbler More moves, less pickproof. Why would anyone think that this makes sense over more traditional combination methods? You're making it harder on the owner and easier on a would-be thief. That's the opposite of the goal.

Actually you're mistaken. Unless you don't use the locker. If you do, you'll rmemeber.

Speaking of which, I periodically have nightmares where I'm back at school and need to get my books and homework for class, but I can't remember my lock combination.

Oh, and I'm 42. Why the hell am I still having dreams about highschool?

I still have dreams where I'm at high school and I have no idea what my next class is.

LOL, me too. Or I finally get to class and I don't have my homework done, so I start panicking.

For me it's always college and there's a test tomorrow or in an hour and I haven't been to class for the last 4 weeks or ever. What's sort of strange is my class attendance was very good.

Same goddamn dream, along with all of the other variations mentioned above between HS and College.. I think I played hookey from maybe 3 college classes total over 4.5 years.

It seems that this one has the advantage that you can't actually see what the combo is even if you look directly at someone opening the lock (assuming the movement is very small on the directions). With the 3 turn ones, someone watching closely can see what the combo is easily.

I've had dreams where I'm in my last semester of college and I need 6 courses to graduate but I can only take 5 max. I wake up in the middle of the night and I'm like fuuuuuuu 😛
