Up to 100,000 Iran-backed fighters now in Iraq

Would it really be that bad if an Iran/Russia coalition dealt with the Iraq/Syria problems? I mean, we saw how much success the US had in those two countries over the past decade and a half. Maybe we should just let someone else take a stab at it?
 
Um, no. They are not a our friend. Want to go that route get NATO involved like what SHOULD have happened a long time ago. But small ball Obozo like's playing with his balls on the green.

Or at least have middle eastern countries finally do something. Like Kuwait, Jordan, UAE. Part of a U.S/middle eastern coalition.

We need a base in Iraq.

Way back in 2004-5, the US admitted that the primary mission in Iraq was "force protection". In other words, the primary function of American troops in Iraq was to protect American troops in Iraq. We don't need to be there. If the Shia majority in Iraq wants to hang with the Iranians (dark pun there, get it?) it will give the Iranians something to keep busy.

If your concern is Iran inside Iraq, maybe we should have thought about that before letting Bush smash it to pieces.

ISIS, the consequence of the US invasion, took the Sunni portion of Iraq. The only "Iraq" remaining are the Iranian Shiites. Those are the men who will militarily defeat ISIS on the ground and take back the country. They are being supported by and lead by Iranian commanders. Baghdad is now in the pocket of Iran, ally of Russia.

What do you think we should do about it?
Me? Stay home and have some popcorn as we watch Bush's war continue to reshape the Middle East.
I absolutely reject and oppose sending Americans over there to die for nothing.

What's in Iraq that's so important that we need to have a base there other than to protect troops already in Iraq. We have bases all around the ME that having them right between Iran and Syria seems like they would only be used to protect themselves. I mean, are we trying to conquer the swath from Syria to Iran?

The US should be shifting resources to a potential conflict in Asia and shoring up/finishing our nation building in Afghanistan so we can get out of there.

I like the way they use the original article as a springboard for that, even link it, realizing that some of the flock won't get past the headline to read the whole thing, let alone the original piece which has a completely different tone.

Damn you are borrowing from Hillary's playbook. I take it you are voting for her in the next election. Her views appear to dovetail with yours nicely... another 10,000 American boys in body bags with nothing to show for it but more anarchy and more fuel added to the terrorism generator in the Middle East.

Hey shit for brains. I'm too old and have bad health. I kick myself for not joining the Navy when I was 19 and was about to go with the recruiter, but the placement specialist or whatever her position was convinced me not to and go to college. Well, one thing lead to another I didn't waist time going to college and I never did join the Navy. But if I could I would! I would look into radar or radio communications. Something around that.

I turn 36 this Oct. They still take me despite the missing disk in my back?

Closest I ever came to the military was JROTC. I still remember most of the drill commands. Perhaps I could have entered as a Pfc. I'll never know.
