The game has been CANCELLED! 🙁
This was #1 on my list of to-get games, I was anticipating this soooo much and now it is gone. I am speechless right now...

Was anyone else here waiting for UO2?

After Ultima Online loyal fans retired from their years of subscribing and truly enjoying playing the game the next generation of the game came out, named Origin or Ultima Online 2. We the loyal fans of Origin want EA to know where their player base lies, in the fans of Ultima Online that will bore of the first generation game and want to move on to Ultima Online 2 which will offer a whole new set of adventures and experiences that just cannot be achieved in the current game of ultima online.

Instead Electronics arts has spent the income, generated from 230, 000 loyal fans paying $10 american a month, on other products and endeavours.

The point of THIS petition is to alert EA that the market is still in Ultima Online 2/Origin and that Ultima Online is a product that will not be able to sustain its current income. Its players are/have become bored with such an old product and are forced to jump ship and move on to other games.

We all want the Ultima Online legacy to live on, to fire all the UO2 employees and halt its production is to destroy ultima online's future!

I never understood why people would pay monthly for a MUD. Given, it's graphical.. but hey, I have an imagination, and it's free!
 
I didn't really look forward to it, though I'd probably have tried it. But there are so many planned MMORPGs, one more or less doesn't hurt as much as it would have a year ago.
About that petition, it's a nice idea, however I doubt it'll have any result.
 
It's all your basic money-motivated decision making. UO2 was too costly to make, they lacked a solid vision for it and they feared cutting into the existing lucrative UO user base. And that's in addition to EA doing poorly financially. The real Ultima and Origin Systems died the moment Garriot went to sleep with the EA execs. This is no loss whatsoever.
