According to the included temperature montier taht came with my mobo, my CPU idles at 50c! I think thats WAY to high, considering it isnt overclocked! Admittdly, im using the stock cooler, but even then i think its too hot! Any suggestions?

edit: its an e4300

edit2: ok, more info: its an abit f-i90hd, the one i got the 50c is speed fan, as well as abiteq. also, even thouogh according to speed fan the CPU is taht hot, the 2 cores idle around 34. And even though when i try to stress my cpu the bios shuts it down its so hot, the heatsink is cool to the touch, and the air its blowing is cool. system temp is around 45 according to abiteq and speedfan, however my case has a temp probe which reads 30c at most...

What processor are we talking about here? If that's a C2D, it's a little warm. If it's a P4, that's probably below average  .

That's a bit high for an E4300....you should be somewhere around 40°C with the stock cooler.

Did you apply the temp probe properly?

Try speedfan, coretemp, and Intel Thermal Analysis Tool and report your temps. If they also say 50°C, then you should try reseating the cooler. You'll need to clean off the thermal grease that's already there and apply some more. I suggest Arctic Silver 5.

What mobo and case are you using?

If you're using the Fatal1ty F-I90HD as your board, then I'm going to assume you're working with a small case (SFF maybe?). You might need more fans and better cooling in that case.

The case is a microfly. It onyl has room for a 120mm in back and a 80mm front

Mmm, that is a bit of a problem. I have the older X-QPack, which has a similar layout to the MicroFly (but with only one 120mm fan). I ended up removing the 3 acrylic windows and replacing them with mesh. I also mounted external fans onto the mesh panels for even more airflow.

Before, I had temps of around 55-57C idle with my Pentium 4 when I still had the stock acrylic windows. On a good, cool day, I can get under 30C idle on my E6600 with the mods I made.

Those are drastic changes I realize -- before I did the mods, I generally ran the system with the case cover off during the summer. Also, an aftermarket heatsink and better thermal compound would probably help too.

You'll definately want to look into aftermarket cooling if you're in a SFF.

I suggest either the Zalamn CNPS-7000B or the CNPS-7700cu if it'll fit in your case. There's also the CNPS-8000, although I'm not sure if it cools as well as the former options.

Also, have a look at this thread:

WOW! i never thought reshuffling the wires and reorangizing em would help this much! Now idle is around 44-46C. Still a bit high for me, but MUCH better :D

Unfortuantly, when i run orthos in around 1 min my computer crashes still :(

I am assuming the stock CPU fan did have thermal grease preapplied to it correct? I would try reinstalling the heatsink.

Also, this might seem risky, but I would go into my bios and turn off the thermal protection shutdown modes if there is that option. It could be the bios temp sensors are borked and its shutting down without need. If you see your processor scaling its speed down(There are programs which monitor CPU throttling), then you have a problem.

How good is Céramique? The place im going to has Céramique only. After that its some no-name brands. Also, whats the best way to remove the preapplied thermal pad?

Ceramique is quite good. Thermal paste makes a couple degree C difference at most so I wouldn't worry myself over it. FYI your local radioshack should have ceramique and artic silver(artic silver comes in a thermaltake package there).

To remove the preapplied grease use acetone or as high a % of isopropyl alchohol as possible. I use 92% alcohol I picked up from walmart for $1-$2.

Use a rag or paper towel that won't leave fibers behind and gently wipe away the crap.
