Unstable computer

I have noticed that my recent build was unstable. By unstable I mean that if I try to upload pictures online my computer freezes. It also freezes randomly from time to time as well. Maybe once every three days.

I have tried all the obvious things, different ram, differnt CPU, different video card, different PSU. I have run memtest and I have reinstalled Vista twice.

One thing is that when I run sfc/ scannow in the CMD it gives me a message that some of the files were corrupt but that it could not repair them and tells me to check the log. I have no idea how to interpet the log.

Any ideas?

Have you tested the hard drive with the manufacturer's utility? Also what brand/model of motherboard and ram?

I used the WD drive utility I downloaded online. It took like 4 hours and came up fine.

I am using that budget DDR2 800 Gskil ram everyone buys and an ASUS M3N78-VM mb.

Yeah, check Event Viewer for errors.

As for your scanning program, uninstall it and then reinstall it. Or, in my opinion, don't reinstall it, ever.

What scanning program? The WD program? Is there something wrong with it?
