Unspecific speed on my laptop

Hi everyone,
Just bought a used laptop: Compaq Evo N1015v with AMD M-2000 chip. run @ 1.6ghz. Everything works fine but so often when I go "My computer" and right click for "Properties" which show speed @ 522 mhz...and then 1.6ghz comes back on and then disappears agian?? What is wrong with my lappy?? Thanks for looking/helping

It is a mobile CPU... which change back and forth as proc power is needed or not. This saves you battery power. Check here: speedswitchxp This will give you full power in either AC or DC use.... Battery will drain quickly so you be to judge....

morpheus is correct. AMD's PowerNow technology in the AXP's varies the clock & voltage to save power. I would leave it alone, unless you want to force it to run in Dynamic mode while on AC power. That will help keep the heat production down, those old AXP's could get quite toasty!
