"Unrecoverable read error"

Using Nero 5.5, I get an "Unrecoverable read error" when trying to copy a Norton Ghost image to my hard drive. The CD is burned using "fast compression" and has about 700mb worth of data. Odd thing is that it does work when I copy the CD from an old sony DVD drive. It does not work from a TDK 40XCDRW (same one that I burned it with), a TDK 48XCDRW, NEC CDROM, or an NEC DVDRW drive. Nothing will copy the CD to an image on my hard drive expect that old DVD drive. The problem is that that drive sometimes has trouble reading DVD's and I want to replace it.

Anyone know what this problem is? Is there other cd or dvd drives that might read the cd better?
