Mine favorite is probably the movie "Hackers" from 1995 with their psychedelic renderings of the 'virtual' world

of course it could also be the excitement generated by a "288 kbps modem" the clothes and the roller blades as well

"Yo...this is 'insanely great,' its got a 28.8 kbps modem!"
"Brian thought he was totally hacking the Gibson but ended up formatting his hard drive instead"

you do know the movie was made in the 90s when a 28.8 modem would have been a pretty big deal? Rollerblades were also very "in" back then as well.

the computer system that the little girl in jurassic park figures out (well the computer system in general in that movie ...)

when they can zoom into pics so that you can see the pores of people's faces.

i once saw something (i think on CSI) where an ATM camera was facing a window where a lady they needed to identify was eating inside a restartuna. there was a glare on the window that completely blocked out the woman. so they ran a filter on it and wala - the glare was gone and you could see the womans face fine.

the computer crap in Enemy of the State when they use the cameras in the bra store to rotate 180 degrees around will smith and "hypothesis" what is in the bag.

Those Mac commercials piss me off too, especially since the Mac guy is a turd that got killed in Jeepers Creepers.

Yea, i was wondering why apple wasnt bashing windows mobile in iphone commercials with lies and half-truths too.

I agree that its lame that the main character often has a mac. Too stupid to use a pc or *nix?

hahah yeah those type of things piss me off.

worst was they had a picture (from a camera phone i think) of a lady as she is getting killed. so they zoom in on the womens eye since it had a reflection of the killer.

they were able to zoom in and enhance the picture to print out a 8x10 glossy photo that looked great.

just that every movie seems to use macs whereas in real life that isnt the case. Macs do look better asthetically though which makes total sense in why they would want to use them. Also it is hollywood where everyone owns a mac and smokes the grass no suprises there. I dont mind the virtual reality 3d hacking effects that much, how else are they supposed to show it that will interest non techie audiences

How about that annoying beeping sound everything makes whenever someone uses a computer? As if computers really make those geeky sounds when a button is pushed...

I was referring to the virtual world they created as being unrealistic - not the modem or roller blades. That just adds to the fun

or when someone is opening an image or doing anything with a computer they are typing on the keyboard like the keyboard is going out of style, they are clicking and typing like the boat is going down lmao

when people 'hack' into stuff like the traffic controls, or sewage controls, gas controls, whatever....

The Italian job (seth green is a big movie hacker for some reason..napster my ass!) ...

I hate how they get the systems programs, or it seems as if they log in the program itself downloads, but hey....it looked like he was using linux at least :D

Did everyone forget Independence Day?
Connecting a Mac to an alien network? Creating a virus that is compatible with said network's operating system?
It's hard enough getting a Mac to talk to a PC...

Favorite of all time is typified by the scene in My Best Friend's Wedding when Julia Roberts enters somebody's full name and job title and company they work for into the recipient field in an email.

But, my personal pet peeve, are those large 3D buttons that take up half the screen.

"I've seen these things in action, sir......I'm well aware of their maneuvering capabilities."

Will Smith talking about flying the alien ship.

I watched "Perfect Stranger" last night. Ugh... The tricks, hack, IM's, etc. were pretty out there and unrealistic. However, I could easily believe some geek would act like Ribisi's character.

IOL Chat... Ahahahaha!

All that said, Halle Berry...

That scene in Transformers where the black guy hot-wired a "computer" (that was actually a monitor) to operate an old-skool short-wave radio, complete with a graphical interface, in < 5 minutes.

lol, the net (I believe it is) its just a small thing, but when you see one of the IP addresses listed, the first number is like 304. That and the rest of the movie is pretty crazy (A secret character that when you push Shift-Alt-D and click on it will take you to a super secret webpage that can hack into any computer!). Actually, the entire movie is pretty cring worthy.
