I just got a GeForce 3 Ti200. I upgraded from a TNT2U with Det2 6.50 Drivers. Now I'm running DetXP version 21.83 WHQL drivers. For some strange reason UT runs WORSE on the GeForce3 than on the TNT2. I tried switching to OpenGL and then it ran fast. Why doesn't it work right in D3D? Is the 21.83 a bad driver, or is the GF3 a bad card? How do I fix this?

well my guess is that if you went back to 6.5's you would get the same kind of performance----->driver problem, you cant fix it unless you shuffly around with different driver builds.

(UT is a fun game!)

Anyway, I had the experience with my GeForce2 GTS that OpenGL worked better than D3D. Then Switched to a GeForce3 (not Ti) and couldn't tell any significant difference between OpenGL and D3D (I have Hi-res extras installed and run with everything enabled). Then I switched to WindowsXP and now the D3D is looking better than the OpenGL (probably DirectX 8.1 doing this)

Anyway, you should see a BIG improvement going from TNT2 to a GeForce3 (any). I suggest using display properties and changing your video adapter to Standard PCI adapter (VGA). then go to control panel and uninstall any utilities associated with your video card if they are left over from the manufacturer stuff before you went to detonator drivers.

then go to here and download the detonator destroyer and use it according to instructions. Then re-install your detonator drivers and see if this helps

It sounds like you may have some old driver stufforz lurking around

Good Luck!

UT has always run fine under Direct3D with any of nVidia's drivers. Just make sure have the latest 4.36 version and make sure you have correctly removed all traces of your old detonator drivers before you swapped your cards.
